SoClean 2 CPAP Cleaner and Sanitizer
SoClean 2 CPAP Cleaner and Sanitizer
I am new to this site and could not find if this has been discussed before. I was not able to navigate this website very well, so please bear with me if this is repetitious.
Has anyone used the SoClean 2 CPAP Cleaner and Sanitizer?
It looks like a fast and convenient way to make sure the machine is disinfected. I did not want to invest $300, however, without knowing for sure if it really works.
Thanks!

That's odd... I found 381 matches typing in SoClean in the search box in the upper left corner.fgern15 wrote:I am new to this site and could not find if this has been discussed before. I was not able to navigate this website very well, so please bear with me if this is repetitious.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

If you do a forum search for "SoClean" you will get more hits.
My personal opinion...any germs on my stuff will be my germs that I already have been exposed to so I don't see the need to kill them and it doesn't eliminate the need to actually wash your equipment (facial oils and all that) or else you just get sterilized dirt...I am not interested.
Now if someone had some serious auto immune issues that might be a different story but for those of us that are generally healthy...I don't see the need unless a person is a germophobe and they just have to use something like this for their own peace of mind.
I have other stuff I would rather spend my money on.

Re: SoClean 2 CPAP Cleaner and Sanitizer
The SoClean folks have been doing a lot of radio ads lately, some XM channels, maybe more.
It's not a far stretch to suspect they have internet posters on their payroll.
This may have been mentioned before, but, what the heck!
Now tell us, honestly; do you have apnea? Do you use a Cpap? Is English your first language?
Are you posting from your own computer? Just curious.

I just heard an Ad for this machine on our local talk radio station in St. Louis. What a coincidence.

Re: SoClean 2 CPAP Cleaner and Sanitizer
My husband also reports a lot of ads for the SoClean device on the radio stations he listens to.
He came home one night and asked me if I had heard of it or was using one because he heard I must be using a "dirty" machine. I told him "yeah, I am using a dirty machine but it's my dirt so I don't care".
He says he hears radio ads for it all the time...so I guess they are really doing a lot of promoting right now.
I am happy with hot soapy water ...whenever I think to do it.
Whatever floats your boat though....

Re: SoClean 2 CPAP Cleaner and Sanitizer
Consider it useful for anyone with a compromised immunity.
I really hate it that their ads could be creating germophobes out of rational people.
{{{ I wonder if that qualifies as a TORT; maybe some hungry litigator could put together a class action}}}.

Re: SoClean 2 CPAP Cleaner and Sanitizer
The SoClean Sanitizer claims are that it removes 99% of bacteria, germs and what not. So does Dawn Dishwashing detergent. I can see it being useful for someone who can't easily use a sink and doesn't have family members to help them. I can also see an adult buying this for their elderly parent who maybe doesn't see so well or has had repeated respiratory problems (and would hope they checked for other sources as well). I just can't see the average able-bodied person shelling out $300 for something that does the same thing as a $2 bottle of dishwashing detergent.

The impression that I've gotten of those things is that they frequently cause deterioration and discoloration of mask materials while imparting an odd odor at the same time. These would fall into the negative category in my estimation.

Re: SoClean 2 CPAP Cleaner and Sanitizer
I have one. It does what it claims to do, as far as I can tell. Mine has lasted several years so far. So it's not a piece of junk. It may well be completely unnecessary however. Pugsy's right in that it doesn't remove oils etc. I use baby wipes for that, and then I still wash my mask and hose occasionally--when I remember!! and that's the rub!!
It's a convenience.

Does anyone remember those little cleaning devices that looked like little robots? I am just curious. I haven't seen or heard of those in a long time. I think they were sold in Canada. I guess they didn't go over very well.

Re: SoClean 2 CPAP Cleaner and Sanitizer
I use a hearing aid conditioner that combines a UV lamp with a desiccant block and warm, moving air.
Of course, putting a hearing aid in a pan of sudsy water would be a disaster.
