Given the wrong machine?

Post by Hopefullady » Wed Dec 09, 2015 10:53 am

I just realized after having difficulty choking last night on back that I was given a Respironics DreamMachine instead if what the DME told me I would receive which should have been a Respironics System 1 Auto CPAP.

Are these two machines much different?

The DreamStation is the newer P-R model that supersedes the System One . I hope I understood your post correctly. . . Or are you meaning that you received a straight CPAP rather than the auto titrating model?

The Respironics System One is the preceding machine that has now, for the most part been replaced by the Respironics Dream Station machine. Aside from external appearances, they are very similar in function and in therapy algorithms.

If your new machine is an Auto model DSX500S11, then you got the right machine.

We'll the model # you mentioned JDS is one digit off the one I have...mine has a "T" where you put an "S". Either way it's a:

Philips Respironics DreamStation Auto CPAP w/humid/HT, DOM.

So I guess this auto-titrates?

The "S" indicates a machine without the heated humidifier, the "T" indicates with the heated humidifier.
Yet, this does auto adjustment to meet your needs as they change while you sleep.
It is a good machine and much more capable than the straight CPAP which supplies only a single pressure.
