why am I more tired?

Post by grins1227 » Mon Dec 07, 2015 4:37 pm

I started with full face mask which does not bother me at all, it took me a few days to adjust and now 3 nights in a row I have slept 8 hours each night and wake up feeling worse than ever. I can barely function but I have a full time job and have to push through. The tiredness I feel is something like I've never felt before and it is causing some anxiety. My doctor is in the office only once a week, nobody seems to be able to help me with this issue because I "need to speak with the doctor". I called the company that provided me with the cpap for some advice. I have no leakages and everything seems to be working normal. I am taking the humidity level off of auto and setting it to 5. I wake up dry and with a headache so I assume I need to tweak it up a bit. Is it normal to feel worse? I am sorry but I am too tired to sift through all these posts for an answer, can hardly keep my eyes open.

Hello and welcome. Generally the first course of action is to confirm that treatment is indeed therapeutic. I suggest you register with the forum and post your equipment to get targeted advice regarding optimizing your treatment.

Aside from possible tweaks being needed to therapy, do note that feeling worse before feeling better is commonly reported on here. One reason is that for some people the brain takes a while to accept all the new sensations as the new normal and stays on high alert. Hard to get restorative sleep like that. For me, once I was able to sleep without the dangers of apnea, I crashed hard. It was like my body and brain was finally able to relax and lean into the treatment. Once I could sleep I craved it, and no matter how much I got it wasn't enough. Guess it was the recovery phase, when my body was healing and needed sleep to do so.

Good luck going forward and getting past the initial phase of treatment.

Thank you for welcoming me. I took your advice and registered. I have a ResMed 10 Elite cpap with a Quattro FX full face mask. I am hoping this tiredness is short-lived and that I have the strength to push through the crashing fatigue I have.
