Smart card poll revisited--M series users please respond

Post by t-bone » Fri Feb 09, 2007 5:33 pm

Let's try this one more time, with feeling!

There has been talk (again) about days of data missing when Smart Card downloads are done. In some cases, the data for (as an example) Saturday and Sunday are missing. The compliance data will be there, but aside from the date, there is no information on apnea occurrences or snores or flow limitations or pressures. Sometimes even the name of the day (i.e. Saturday) or the date (i.e. October 24) is missing.

My intent here is to quantify this problem, mostly as a point of curiosity. If the poll gives me interesting results, I may point it out to the folks at Respironics. As always, no flame wars please.

The "not the machine's fault" is in there because I know that one of my gaps was my own fault--I neglected to download on schedule, and lost two days that way.

For those of us who download data from our Respironics M-series machines using the Smart Card:

I am lucky, so I didn't vote, I don't loose data, because I bought the "Classic Tanks", you know the oversized heavy type, and I didn't want to corrupt your data stream. (More than it is already)

You should have put "M"agic only on the poll. Maybe Tankers won't use the poll. Jim

Perhaps the poll should be revised to the M Series smart cards. I don't think the tanks have the problem, but would screw up the poll results.

BTW - when I saw we had another "Pool" going, I almost quit. ...

Linda and goofproof must have sent at about the same time. I've edited the title accordingly.

Thanks for the clarification, folks!

Welcome T-bone.

Actually Jim posted quite a while before me - but I never read his posts anyway.

Not so fast guys!

I have a new "tank" auto BiPAP. Occasionally I will only get the last day's data.

Maybe this has more to do with the software version. Mine is 5.4

Wake me up when this is over...

The other variable is which version of the firmware is installed on your M series. I think they started out with version 3.06 and have since moved to 3.08.

Did you run the "Do Not Erase", program? Then do you choose "Do Not Erase" as the option each time you download? That usually keeps "Tanks" on the right track. Jim

Paul,

How do you know what the firmware version is and how can it be updated?

Allen,

When you first turn on the machine from a no power state, the firmware version will be displayed in the LCD window. If the machine is sent back to Respironics for repair, they will upgrade the firmware for you.

I suspect that some dme's, especially those associated with sleep medicine hospitals, may also be able to provide this service for you, although I don't know that for sure.
