A Disposable CPAP Machine for 60 cents!!
Re: A Disposable CPAP Machine for 60 cents!!
Although do you know what the penalty for running off with all the crowdfunding funds is?

Re: A Disposable CPAP Machine for 60 cents!!
Martians! I say Martians are making it! Just think they can make the whole thing as a disposable item for less than the cost of a typical low powered lithium Ion battery. Even better than eye contacts (no battery, no electronics)!$3 per Airing device, or $0.60 after insurance reimbursement. But it's important to understand the technology behind Airing to appreciate how we plan to produce the device at such a low cost per unit.
That is about $1095 for a year of them... just think of how you are supposed to dispose of the disposables... 365 of them a year.
And it will store the appropriate data can be stored for subsequent retrieval. Of course without that, no insurance company would touch it as they need compliance data.
And there is more... they answered the question about mouth-breathing too..
Curious, how to you do any research on breathing with a NON-WORKING PROTOTYPE? and how is it if you use a regular nasal mask mouth breathing can be such a big thing, but for this... not really a problem? What we found in our research with a non-working prototype was that the nose buds, while very comfortable, had a beneficial side effect of a slight opening of the nasal pathways. We believe that improving nose breathing will significantly reduce or eliminate mouth breathing. If a little extra help is needed, a comfortable chin strap could be used.
The comments are really really sad...
This device won't help him. It isn't magic...Marcus: We currently have no insurance and I would pay for this outright to sleep better at night, I don't/won't use a machine as I can't deal with all the hoses, noise, etc....I've taken a sleep study serveral times and I can't even sleep long enough there for the study to come to any conclusion except I have sleep apnea. I can't wait!!!

There really isn't a prototype? What was shown then?
I don't have a problem with my mask or hoses but I think there is a possibility this could work. Think about all the stuff we have now that was either huge or non existent 50 years ago or even 30 years ago! Forget about this thing being cost prohibitive long term. As for the waste part, probably just the battery would be the problem. The mask could be recycled.
Keep an open mind. Medical equipment keeps on improving!

Even if this was a reality, Being disposable, can you imagine the land fills? It would be almost as bad as K-cups. . .which its creator now realizes.

They have admitted they have a non-working prototype and their research that this will work is based on a non-working prototype.postitnote wrote:Keep an open mind. Medical equipment keeps on improving!
It would might be quite different if they had a WORKING prototype... but they need funding to get there... There is no FDA approval, they have many missing technical details. They talk about how they will bring the moon but not how they are getting there.
No FDA approval, means no insurance company would touch it. No compliance data and no insurance company will touch it. They will have the same adoption issues that ALL masks have but have NO funding. If this was a real possibility VC capital would be pouring in why would they need crowdfunding?? This is not a game, it is not a toy and it certainly is not a magic device which will fix OSA issues like many of their commentators think it will be.
Like grey said.... open minded very, open wallet not.

I've actually found I breathe much easier without anything in my nose. Probably because it's harder to breathe out against the air blowing into my nose. (I use an ASV so no exhale relief.) And how is that thing supposed to stay IN your nose?! Is it clamped up in there? What we found in our research with a non-working prototype was that the nose buds, while very comfortable, had a beneficial side effect of a slight opening of the nasal pathways. Fishing hooks. You can't see them in the picture but that way you don't need a headgear to hold it in place.Ladyflower wrote:I've actually found I breathe much easier without anything in my nose. Plus disposal fee (Like pop bottles and tvs here)? It is cheaper to buy a regular cpap machine and masks. That is about $1095 for a year of them...

They will have to use something that is sticky, like a three-finger booger (i.e., something hard to flick off).Ladyflower wrote:....And how is that thing supposed to stay IN your nose?! Is it clamped up in there?

For me, at least,
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A COMFORTABLE CHIN STRAP.

How many remember the sales pitch of cable tv was, "Pay one fee for TV and there will never be commercials on cable TV,"?
