Decent DME in Boynton Beach, FL?

Post by BleepingBeauty » Tue Feb 24, 2015 11:13 am

Dad has his home sleep study last night. I don't expect to get the results until sometime next week, but I want to be prepared re: (potential) DMEs. I'm not sure if my dad's GP (who'll receive the results) has a particular DME that she prefers, but there are a number of them listed in the folks' insurance booklet. The only national one listed is Lincare; all the others are (seemingly) independent.

Does anyone here have good or bad experiences to share about local DMEs in this area? TIA
Veni, vidi, Velcro. I came, I saw, I stuck around.

Dx 11/07: AHI 107, central apnea, Cheyne Stokes respiration, moderate-severe O2 desats. (Simple OSA would be too easy. ;))

PR S1 ASV 950, DreamWear mask, F&P 150 humidifier, O2 @ 2L.

I have no experience to share.

But if Dad's GP is willing to stay actively involved in the process, most local-yokel DMEs will stand up and take notice. DMEs tend to jerk docs around a little less often than they jerk patients around, I think.

Just a thought.

Not familiar with any in that area, but, personally I would go with the independents if they are in network. Personally go in and talk to them before you commit.

Thanks for the replies. Of course, I'll be sure Dad is dealing with a reputable DME (not one that'll want to stick him with a crappy machine and/or service); if I run up against one of those, they won't know what hit 'em when I get through with 'em.

Would love it if someone here could vouch for one over another and say they get great service. No matter what, though, I'll be sure that Dad is treated right (if the results of his test indicate that he's definitely got apnea and needs equipment). He's okay with the idea of using a machine if it's needed, so that's a bonus, and Mom isn't being negative about it, either (and that's a HUGE bonus). I know that Dad would have a better recovery if he gets good sleep, so that's my goal...
