Sleepyhead and computer question

Post by Country4ever » Sun Feb 22, 2015 5:32 pm

This computer is very old, so hubby set up a new one and transferred pretty much everything to the new one. He left the old one running, until I could get adjusted to the new one.
Here's my question: The new computer doesn't seem to recognize sleepyhead, when I insert my data card. When I go to re-install the program on the new computer, I have to have a username and password (I think). Can I use my old one? Or if I need a new one, does it make any difference, if I have the same SD card?

Also.........how do I save all this data so if I lose it somehow on the computer, I still have the info.

Sorry I'm a bit slow with computers.
Thanks!

Are both computers running the same version of Windows? If not, which version is running on the old computer and which on the new computer?

If they are both running the same version of windows, the easiest way is to just copy the sleepyhead folder from the old to new computer. Do you have a usb key? That's an easy way to do it.

In my case, on windows 7, I open up windows explorer.
In the left column, I click on the plus sign next to the icon that says Desktop.
Then click on the plus sign next to the icon that says Libraries.
Then click on the icon (not the plus sign) that says Documents.
Now look over in the right side of the window and you should see a folder named SleepyHeadData-Testing.
That is where your profile and all your information and data for sleepyhead is stored.
You want to copy that folder onto your usb key, then move the usb key over to the new computer, and then copy that folder onto the new computer into the same folder that you found it in on the old computer.

Does that make any sense? It's complicated to describe, but easy to do. Any time you want to make a backup, you can just copy that folder - that's where everything lives. It's small - you could keep a backup copy on dropbox, burn it onto a CD, or copy it to a usb key.
