S9 AutoSet reports AHI 1.3 and SleepHead AHI 1.17

Post by fdw » Fri Feb 20, 2015 7:52 am

Today I noticed that my MBPro with SH 9.8.1 reported my AHI at 1.17, and my S9 AutoSet reported todays AHI at 1.3. The S9 reports 7.7 hrs usage and SH reported the same for todays report.

On my MBAir with SH 0.9.6 the AHI was the SAME as my S9 AutoSet AHI 1.3. Yes, I realize it's the same

Any idea whats going on here and which one is reporting the correct AHI?

I decided to unplug the power for a few minutes (2) on the 7 month old ResMed S9 AutoSet and see if things are more in sync between the machine and SH tomorrow.

And the difference between 1.3 and 1.30 is?

....
So, S9 reports AHI of 1.3, SH 0.9.8.1 reports 1.17, and SH 0.9.6 reports 1.3

That's a difference of 0.13 events per hour over 7.7 hours of use, which represents 1.001 events (OA or H) over the whole evening. Safe to round down to 1. So, you had 9 or 10 OA's and H's. Wish we could all say the same.

Here is a possible research project: you could review your SH event charts in each version of SH, count up the OAs and Hs identified, and divide by 7.7 to verify the AHI reported by each version. And, you could verify that both SH versions are using the same 7.7 hours in that evening's AHI calculation.

Since AHI = (# of Obstructive Apneas + # of Hypopneas) / # of hours , it must be the # of events or the time (or both?) that is not consistent.

I think the major question is, what will you do once you've determined whether the AHI was 1.17 versus 1.30? Pugsy has said that it is the machine that identifies OA's and H's. So, possibly you have discovered a SH issue? Or...?

Thanks for the book tip.

Absolutely nothing .13 per hour difference is less than 1 event per 7 hour night. gsy has said that it is the machine that

So, inquiring mind(s) want to know -- what happened with your AHI data last night?
