I'm on my 5th day of using a CPAP. My model is ResMed Air Sense Autoset. I use the nasal pillows, size extra small. I'm getting accustomed to sleeping with the hose on. HOWEVER, my problem is the after effect. At best, my nose runs and I sneeze occasionally. At worst, like today, my nose drips constantly and I sneeze loudly, forcefully and frequently.
I moved my humidity setting higher each night. Last night it was set on 7. Good news -- my AHI went from 3.8 to 1.2. Bad news ---- my nose hurts from all the dripping and sneezing.
Anybody have advice for me?
Runny Nose and Sneezing
Re: Runny Nose and Sneezing
Turn your humidity down. You'll give yourself a bad cold at that rate! If your local humidity is high to begin with, you may not even need to use the one on your machine.

Your nose runs during the night or during the day?
You might try a nasal decongestant but they can often be counter productive to sleeping.
I would also try reducing the humidity or running with the heater turned off.

You most likely have a cold...nothing to do with CPAP. Use a nasal rinse before bed.

Re: Runny Nose and Sneezing
My nose runs during the day. The nose drip decreases when I have the CPAP on.
My impression is that my breathing passages were dried out by the forced air, particularly the first night.
Turning the humidity down seems counterintuitive, but I'll give it a try.

Re: Runny Nose and Sneezing
Especially during dry winter months, I prefer to have too much humidity available. I just make sure I always have a box of Kleenex nearby. This comes from the 10+ years of driving dump truck, where rock dust and salt dust dried me out so badly that my hands would crack and bleed, and I would feel blood vessels in my nose pop just from breathing. Never mind random nosebleeds.
In my case, it's easier to recover from too much moisture. My sinuses haven't been this healthy or happy in YEARS.
