I have version 2.4.8.0 is this the latest version of Encore
I have the basic version, is there a pro version available to us mortals
I have and use Sleepyhead ... but I am currently using a PR1060 and it will not read the SD card from that machine.

As far as I know that is the latest version, and Pro isn't going to get you any additional functionality.
So I'm curious to see if the 1060 blows you up like a balloon. Your Halloween motif has been drooping a bit. Have fun.
