need help with the ResMed Vpap S9

Post by luann » Sun Feb 15, 2015 12:23 pm

I am new to this group and even though I have been diagnosed since 2009, I just now want to take charge of getting this sleep thing RIGHT. I recently got a new machine, supposedly better, but its not working for me. I only average 3 hours a night before my mouth is so dry it could crack. Or if I up the humidity the condensation creates a drip and nice hi pitched noise that wakes me up. I feel tired and have a headache when I wake up.

I'm not sure how to get around on the equipment but I am computer saavy and a pretty good student and I want to make it work!!I know how to adjust my humidity (5.5 @ 71-Im in SoCal, its dry here!) , ramp up time (20 minutes) and how to view my usage time. I'm guessing I need to get in there and find out other settings.

does anyone have this machine?

Which mask are you using? Do you know about the software available? If not, check out the SleepyHead links I have in my signature line.

Did you know you can see more than usage time on the machine's LCD menu?

oh what I meant to say is that I'm in Southern Cali and its dry here!! sorry.. 71 degrees
And no, I only see or can get to, daily usage. I need to figure out what all I can adjust because its so not working for me as it is!

My mask is ResMed Airfit F10, I'm guessing the M is for medium.

Go here and request the provider/clinical manual for your machine.
I suspect you have either the S9 VPAP Auto or VPAP S...if it's something else let us know.
It's a combo manual..request this one...instructions on how are down near the bottom of the page
ResMed S9 VPAP Auto, VPAP ST, VPAP S (combined manual)
http://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-p ... tup-manual

In it you will find instructions on how to get into the clinical setup menu area where you can make a change in the settings that will allow you to see more data on the LCD screen.
You need to change Sleep Quality from "usage" to "On".
Usage is the factory default and only shows hours of use...when you set it to "On" then you can also see AHI and leak numbers.
Best detailed data is from the software though.

I thought you might have meant 71 degrees but wanted to make sure....if you are getting condensation in your mask or hose you need to increase the temperature of the air in the hose. Either that or reduce the humidifier setting which your nose may not like.
See posts 2 and 3 in this thread to get the general idea behind condensation in the mask or hose and the various ways to deal with it.

please fill out the equipment section of your profile,

you have a 36006;Resmed;S9 VPAP Auto;

pick this entry: S9 VPAP™ Auto BiLevel Machine

as to the water in the hose and high pitched squeal...run the hose UP right as it leaves the back of the machine, then back down toward your head. This helps with rainout (not a PERFECT solution but it helps), while still allowing you to keep using at least SOME humidity.
