Help - humidifier not working

Post by Olivia » Sat Feb 14, 2015 12:22 am

Ny humidifier has stopped working with no heat and no use of water. I was sent a replacement with an upgrade kit to accommodate the heated hose. I also changed the hose. The light on the bi-pap for the humifier is a solid orange but was flashing previously when it first stopped working. It is still not working. The heat plate does not heat up. I have not been able to use my machine for over a week as I cannot tolerate using it without humidification due to vocal cord damage from two surgeries and I am a 100% mouth breather. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm not a user of those machines but there have been numerous posts and questions about the same problem.
You didn't say which "mode" your HH was set to. It's my understanding that there are 2 or 3 modes. One is "automatic" which adjusts the HH setting according to your relative humidity in your dwelling.
Then, there's a "Manual" or "Classic" setting that allows you to change the settings like the older machines' number system 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
There's also some stipulations on using the heated hose option and whether that's turned on or off.

Check through this search I did and see if your answers are in there.

Thanks, I did read through the previous, posts. I have not changed my settings for months so don't think it is that. I did verify the settings are correct. I think it is probably a problem with the bi-pap not communicating with the humidifier. My machine is only 14 months old so I hope it is still under warranty. I have spoke to my DME about 10 times this week but they are no help.

how are you with a screwdriver? the blower opens up easily with a t15 screwdriver, and you can make sure that all the wiring connections are tight...

got any friends with a soldering iron and tools?

Actually, I replaced the humidifier and the lid that required re-attaching the wiring on the new lid for the heated hose. I'm good with a screw driver but not with a soldering tool. I did read your instructions for dismantling but that is way out of my area of expertise. I think I will read it again as it might not be so dauting with a second read. Thanks

Before you take a screwdriver to it, you might want to check on that warranty. PR machines should be under a 2 year mfg warranty but I heard that's two years from the mfg date of the machine not necessarily from when you got it. If you do send it in for repair or need one quickly, PM me. I'm fairly local to you and have a humidifier you can borrow.

my instructions are for the s9... someone else posted some things on opening up the prs1.

it's simpler to get in, no plastic snaps, just remove the knob, and take out the two t15 screws on the bottom, and the lid lifts off. you can then make sure that the various plugs are making good connection, and that the one going to the humidifier hasn't overheated or burned.

if it has, then you can pop it back together without any sign you've been in it, and you can make a fuss about "a burning smell" and maybe get it fixed for free.
