smart start

Post by Rogers12 » Sun Feb 08, 2015 6:12 pm

I have a Resmed s9 Autoset call machine. I have had it for about 3-4 years. I have it set to smart start and worked fine until about a week ago. It will start up when I put my mask on but when I take it off it will not shut off. I manually turn off but will not shut down.

It takes about 2-3 gets and finally shuts down. Can anyone help? Thanks!

given my limited knowledge in the electronics field (medical related or not), could be yours is starting Death Throes and is getting ready to give it up soon. If that's the case, at least it's giving you the warning first.
Otherwise, I've read posts suggesting that sometimes buttons don't function quite right if they eventually acquire enough dirt to muck things up a bit.

No I haven't changed anything. Wow I hope it's not dying I just got it about 4 years ago. Don't think insurance would give me a new one yet.

If it can't be fixed maybe I should set it to manual start. Can you tell me how to change settings? It been a long time since I had to reset anything. Thanks

1) make sure you have unplugged it for a bit and then plug it back in.

2) If you have smart start on, you don't need to turn if off to turn off the machine, just push the button.

Thanks for the reply Krelvin. I tried unplug the other day for about an hour thinking it would reset. Didn't work. As I said earlier the smart start worked fine til last week. I put the mask on,and it went on. When I took mask off the machine shut down.

Now I have to manually hit the button to shut down. The problem is,it will not shut down on first try. It will go off for 10 or so seconds then come back on by itself. It will do this a few times before it finally shuts down.

One day last week i hit the button to shut down, left the house and came home hours later and it was running.

I tried the autostart and found it to be as useful as trying to push a chain.

the reason I asked is that I've seen smartstart fail to stop in a mask off situation when I had the mask type set to 'full face' and I'd swapped on a nasal pillow mask.

change the mask type setting and all was good again.

I love the auto on/off, it's really handy, since my machine isn't handy from lying position.

I like it also but it seems like now I need to set it to manual on/off. It's such a nice feature, shame won't be able to use it.

have you verified the mask and tube settings, to confirm something didn't get changed by accident?
