Leak rate or comfort?

Post by fmj13 » Sat Feb 07, 2015 2:47 pm

I have recently been using the Pilairo Q, but last night I tried the Sleepweaver Advance. I checked the numbers in Sleepyhead - some nights the Pilairo Q shows 0 leak, whereas with at least 1 night, the Advance shows leaks. However, my face literally hurts after and during use with the Pilairo Q, but the Advance is very comfortable.

What should I do?

Start with comfort...as long as your AHI stays reasonable (<5)

Comfort always wins out with me as long as leaks are within acceptable limits for the most part and acceptable doesn't mean perfectly flat 0 leak all night...I even let some large leak territory leaks slide as long as they aren't horribly long and I sleep well.

Yes, I learned about higher leak rates maybe giving false AHI results while you were out on your hiatus! I'm not buying your "computer problems". I'm betting you were letting your hair out and possibly doin' a "Thelma and Louise" thang'! I heard about an incident down in Florida where a Missoui lady with a bunch of smushed-nose dogs and some Sleep Head charts was raising hell... my first thought was PUGSY!

I don't mind leaks as long as it don't hurt ahi or wake me up. The biggest mask problem I have is every ffm I try leaks into my eyes. Not big leaks but it does wake me because of the location off the leak

Well, you didn't say HOW MUCH leakage. And, one night does not a trend make.
May just need a little tweaking to fix the leakage.

But, like others have said, comfort comes first with me, too. Sometimes the leaks (and other numbers) are good and sometimes they're not. It's a matter of "averages".
