Waking up during the night with extremely dry throat. My Resmed S9 VPAP ST is set at 4.0. Any suggestions on how to stop this. Also, is there a way to turn off the heating feature as I enjoy the coolness of the machine once it turns on?
Edited to state I have a slimline hose.

Re: humidifier questions
The dry throat (does it also include dry mouth?) could very well be from mouth breathing.
It doesn't take an enormous amount of mouth breathing to dry out things but you need to check your software reports to see for sure if mouth breathing is causing big leaks that are big enough and lasting long enough to negatively impact therapy.
You can turn the setting down or off (the 4.0 humidifier setting) but if you do you will get less humidity with each lower setting....it may or may not be something your nose likes.
I know it sounds weird but we actually have more control over air temperature with a heated hose than without because the hose temp can be set lower and humidity setting can be independent of the hose temp....in the summer I like a lower air temp but in the winter I like a warmer air temp (cold bedroom) and using the heated hose lets me do both with the same hose.

Re: humidifier questions
Leak graphs and leak numbers.
With the ResMed S9 machines...the leak number we want to stay below is 24 L/min if we want to know for sure the machine can compensate for leaks. It starts getting a bit iffy and gets worse the higher above 24 L/min we go.
Like maybe 26 to 28 L/min wouldn't be horrible but over 30 L/min it gets questionable and over 35 to 40 or more...the machine really isn't reliable either in reporting or therapy.
It also depends on how long we might be in large leak.
5 or 10 or 20 minutes isn't the end of the world but 2 or 3 hours of therapy in the toilet isn't good.
