Found a fun project.

Post by Thellra » Fri Feb 06, 2015 3:18 am

As someone who constantly rips their mask off, then wakes up feeling like hell (Tape doesn't work all of the time.) I was looking for a way to 'boost' the alarm my machine gives when it notices I'm not wearing my mask (sleep right through it)

And then I found this. http://www.powerswitchtail.com/Pages/Po ... eTail.aspx

I am already planning (once I move) to make a raspberry pi alarm clock, with a very bright light an audible alarm, but with this, I'm going to be able to use it for compliance as well.

Hopefully 500w of light and 110db alarm will wake me up enough to put the mask back on. (and may eventually train sleeping Thellra to just not take it off in the first place.)

But it detects when power is off, not when masks are off (and the blower keeps blowing), so ???

Doesn't the Respironics have an alarm when a large leak AND when you "rip" the mask off (IE: large leak)?

I don't know how you plan to run a light bulb and alarm off of it, but it should work if you have your machine programed to auto off mode. This is the only way I know of to turn the machine off when the mask is ripped off. The entire unit will have to be unplugged when not in use. Good luck with the project. Let us know how it works, and let us know how you wired the light and alarm to the unit.

Yes, but it isn't horribly loud at all. Just a low level beep ...beep that is the same as the beeping when the machine is turned on.
It's so mild it's really easy to sleep through....I have first hand experience in that regard.
