Easy Questions
Hi guys...
I doubt many of yew even remember me? I was in here around 5 years or so ago when I was trying to figure all this out. But then I did and I moved on. I guess it is good I have not had to come back often because that means things have been going well for me. How convenient that Medicare lets yew buy a new machine every 5 years because my humidifier just gave out!
So. Point of clarification. The 60 Series is the latest REMstar APAP model, yes? And the data is not compatible with the data from the earlier model, right? But that awesome sleepyhead software has been updated to accept the 60 series data as well?
I'm just trying to figure out what to get here since I need a new one...
Those who have the 60 series. Are yew happy with it?

I remember you.... you have a unique and consistent way of spelling you...
I have had both a 550 auto and then moved to a 750 and have a 60 series bipap...yes, very happy with it and I love the heated hose. Makes for more customization of both humidity delivery and air temp. Big deal for me but not for others but nice to have the option.
Yes...model 560 is currently the latest Respironics cpap/apap machine.ThomasMcKean wrote:The 60 Series is the latest REMstar APAP model, yes?
Yes.. and in fact has worked with the 60 series machines for quite some time through several version but the latest is the coolest.ThomasMcKean wrote:But that awesome sleepyhead software has been updated to accept the 60 series data as well?
Not sure what you mean here... SD card contents can be combined because each machine uses a separate folder on the SD card and SleepyHead doesn't care meaning you can have multiple machine use under one user profile in both SleepyHead and Encore.ThomasMcKean wrote:And the data is not compatible with the data from the earlier model, right?

Re: Easy Questions
My previous machine was the M-series Auto, so the PRS1 60 Series Auto was an amazing upgrade. It cut my AHI in half, tracks RERA and OA events and has a lot of nice features. I recommend getting the heated hose option since that is the key new feature for the 60 series machines. I prefer to run it in classic humidity mode rather than System One. Good luck and welcome back.

Re: Easy Questions
I see Pugsy was posting at the same time. I just wanted to point you to the latest Sleepyhead software: http://sleepfiles.com/SH/index.html?TestingVersions
and also, if you liked Respironics Encore, you can continue to use the latest version here. http://www.apneaboard.com/forums/Thread ... s-Machines
Before swapping out the machines, you can put your last data into Encore just to have an archive to compare.

Re: Easy Questions
The 60 series also includes a "plus" model (dumb brick), and a "pro" (not auto).
Don't let the DME pull the old bait & switch on you.

It's always been available except on a very limited number of early 50 series machines....so it's available on both older 50 series machines and the new 60 series machines.ThomasMcKean wrote: Yes. Classic humidity mode is something I would really like to have back!

If you have a M series machine...you are already using Classic Mode by default.Guest wrote:

That's what Classic mode happens to be...the old fashioned way of adding moisture...heat only with no other external sensors.
Respironics just gave it a fancy name when the PR S1 machines came out with their "new System One humidification system" which used room sensors to help it deliver humidity more consistently. Classic Mode uses a lot more water than the other modes.
That's how come those M series machines had a lot more rain out issues at the higher settings.

Of course many of us got the Aussie heated hose (SleepZone), so it was just as good as the current 60 series with heated tube.Pugsy wrote:If you have a M series machine...you are already using Classic Mode by default.Guest wrote:

Thomas, as I said above, I was using the M-Series until mid December. My machine had over 19000 hours on it, and seemed to do a fine job. I was truly amazed at how much better the new equipment turned out to be. M Series looks like this

System One 550 white control board

System One 560 gray control board

Re: Easy Questions
I was too much of a tightwad to try the Aussie hose....preferred to struggle and whine and cuss every winter.Sleeprider wrote:Of course many of us got the Aussie heated hose (SleepZone), so it was just as good as the current 60 series with heated tube.
Never had much problem in the other seasons so whining and cussing was enough...along with Padacheek hose cozy for the most part.
2 winters...then I discovered something not quite as costly as the Aussie hose and got it...the Hybernite 2300 and I was good to go. So I understand how come the Aussie hose was so loved.
Anyway...once things moved along and the 60 series finally came out I knew it wouldn't be long before I got one and the rest is history.
I didn't really like the 50 series and using the new humidification mode because even on max it didn't deliver enough moisture to really suit me and for sure not enough warm air as I had ice cube nose with it during the winters. So the ice cube nose was the final straw and that's when I got the Hybernite...and finally the 60 series later.

Re: Easy Questions
Fixed the pictures. They kept shifting around.
Brenda, with the Sleepzone hose electric adapter, and brick for the M Series unit, I had as much bulk in electric adapters as I did with the CPAP. That hose is still going...I keep it as a backup now.

If I go by that guide then I would have to say 550 for sure.Sleeprider wrote:Pugsy wrote:Guest wrote:

Re: Easy Questions
the easiest way to know for sure is to look at the REF (or model, on some) number on the bottom.ThomasMcKean wrote:If I go by that guide then I would have to say 550 for sure.Sleeprider wrote:Pugsy wrote:Guest wrote:
