GoodKnight 420G dead reads IN 1

Post by Dorsia » Tue Feb 03, 2015 4:00 am

Its 2AM and it looks like my CPAP is finally dead. I have been lurking for the last several hours on this forum but since I got the machine several years ago I never had a reason to keep up with all the new information. I this will change in the future. I appreciate all the information in the forum and it looks like the technology has changed in the years since I got my machine. To be honest I am kind of lost.

Anyway, my machine thinks the mask is disconnected and I nothing I change in the settings helps. I have been dreading this day, the machine is old and I knew it would eventually die. My insurance will not cover another sleep study or machine and I am not sure what to do at this point. If I was ever given a prescription with the original paperwork I do not remember as I can not find any of the original documentation.

It seems I have one choice, that is to buy from a private seller but I do not have any idea where to start. Anyone have any recommendations on newer machines or have a scoop on who is selling a good one or does anyone have a low hour GoodKnight 420G for sale?

There's a couple of forum members whom I wouldn't hesitate for one minute to buy a machine from right now if I needed one that have a couple of used and new machines available and would help you understand exactly what you are getting.

It's going to be darn near impossible to find yourself a decent Goodknight machine at this stage of the game.

Actually in terms of a "good" machine.....either the Phillips Respironics System One machines or the Resmed S9 machines.
I don't know any one selling a Devilbiss machine private as it isn't as common.

Check with sleep_quest
memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=72722
as I know there is at least one PR S1 model 560 machine that is brand new available for $400 and there may be others that are a little less in cost with older manufacture date

and check with grayghost4
memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=72737
as I think he had PR S1 560 also (don't know if sold yet) for around $350

The PR S1 model 560 is a GREAT machine...full data apap/cpap and all that with software easy to obtain and use if you want it.
The S9 AutoSet would also be a good choice but those are a little more costly even if used and they are a little bit harder to find on the secondary market.

I really appreciate the quick response and referral. I will try to contact them today. I tried Craigslist but there isn't anything near me and I am scared of buying something without a referral from unknown sources. On top of a bad cold that I am fighting its been a difficult night. Thanks again!

If you want a 420g I have one I picked up at a yardsale. I don't
know how to read the blower hours on it but it looks just about
new. If you are interested let me know by sending a PM.

One more question. Anyone use Secondwindcpap.com? it seems that you can just check out without a prescription but in their notes they mention helping with people in my situation with a "physician authorization." I saw some positive reviews about them on this forum but not sure about the buying process. I did cal them but I am waiting for a call back.

I haven't used them, but I've heard a lot of positive reviews on the forum, and no negative ones.

I've heard that sometimes the forget to ask for the rx.
