interesting youtube video

Post by Tatooed Lady » Mon Feb 02, 2015 6:20 am

On youtube, search for:
"S9 AutoSet vs System One Comparison"

It's a 6 minute video showing how both machines react to events. I would post a better link, but I didn't see one. The joys of smartphones with itty bitty screens.

Yup. And probably a paid advertisement, but still interesting to see how they supposedly react. Accurate? Dunno. Interesting? To me, yup.

I believe this is accurate. It is also not very indicative of proper treatment. The Philips is designed to avoid giving massive increases in pressure unless you really need it. It will test you with pulses of air to see if you respond well to a higher pressure, hoping not to awake you. The S9 doesn’t do this but responds immediately. That’s why the pressures should never be a 4cm but closer to optimal. When I first started treatment my machine did exactly this, because my minimum was at 4cm. If the same test is done at a minimum of 8cm; the results will likely be in Philips’ favor and the patient will likely have less arousals than with the S9.

It was interesting, thanks for posting.

I noticed it was posted on YouTube by cpap supply, but I wonder if it was originally produced by ResMed?

Like you said though, interesting none-the-less.

These are simulated.
well, that is about the only way to get repeatable test results.

The video forgot to mention that flow imitation and vibratory snores come before an apnea typically. And Remstar will respond to those beforehand.

Also it's a 50 series machine in the video. And the 60 series increases pressure much more aggressively in my waveform.
