Can I change the settings on ResMed S9

Post by cnl390 » Mon Sep 29, 2014 1:12 pm

I just got off the phone with ENT doctor and he wants to lower my settings from 6-16 to 6-14. Ir is an hour + drive round trip to place where I initially got my machine.
Would it be difficult for me to set?

With the correct clinicians manual, making changes is fairly straight forward.

Not sure what model of S9 you have though. You should provide the model number and other info to get help quicker.
Current Settings PS 4.0 over 10.6-18.0 (cmH2O) - Resmed S9 VPAP Auto w/h5i Humidifier - Quattro Air FFM
TNET Sleep Resource Pages - CPAP Machine Database
Put your equip in your Signature - SleepyHead v1.0.0-beta-1

Once you have done it the first time, it will take only seconds to do it again. This is definitely something the average person can do. I found a link here with a youtube video that walked me through it the first time. I will try to find it again.

Thanks,
John

These links might help you. They are what I used to adjust my S9 Autoset. If you have another model, these might not work exactly as shown. I am sure someone else on here will provide specific instructions as needed.

Brief video tutorial for the S9 machines is available via the link in my signature box. Shows how to access the clinical menu to adjust your pressure.

Good thing you clarified the "almost" -- for a second there it looked like a 5150 situation.

Personally, I don't see much advantage to reducing the upper number. What problems did you relate to your ENT?

The main problem was waking up with what felt like an ear infection that would go away after I removed the mask. Secondary the mask would be blowing like a hurricane.

Why is it "blowing like a hurricane"? There must be a reason for the pressure to be going up so high.
Look at your software reports from your nightly data. You ARE using software aren't you? ResScan or Sleepyhead?
And, you have a pretty wide pressure range. There must be a happier medium in there somewhere.

I would also like to see some of the software reports.
I wish I had a dollar for every pressure line that used to go a lot higher that doesn't go there any more with just a simple little better minimum pressure.
