ResScan Stopped working(Card reader problem)

Post by hose head » Wed Mar 10, 2010 12:30 pm

I have ResScan installed on Windows XP.(yes, it was working) It will not read my card. I get a message that it is a C++ error. "Devicescan2.exe abnormal program termination"
I uninstalled and Re installed. I am using 3.07.077.
Do I need to get new 3.10 software? And where would I get it?

Thanks for all help.

I'm a mac user with limited WinXP knowledge but it sounds like a driver issue - not software issue.

The PC for some reason isn't reading your card reader - do a search here, one of the threads has the sites for the drivers. Try to re-install the drivers and then see what happens.

Good luck.

I had that too a couple of days ago - it has to do with the card reader.

Try disconnecting the crad reader from the computer when the computer is off, and then, turing it on and running ResScan with no device connected. Then connect the device to the computer when ResScan is running. if this doesn't work with the card in the reader, try the whole seqeunce with the reader empty..

1. Unplug the card reader.
2. Install BOTH the card reader and USB adapter drivers with ResScan.
3. Boot into Safe Mode (XP).
4. Plug in the card reader.
5. Reboot in normal mode.

I am running Intel/Mac and Snow Leopard with VMWare 3.02 and Win XP Pro...

I am guessing that ResScan 3.07 opens properly and you can view old info from your S8... then your ResScan should be fine. See next Post

I just realized that I was confusing you with the second poster who is on Mac... instructions remain the same about eliminating each item...

The Device Manager in Windows XP likely where the problem lies...

1. try a different USB port with the same reader
2. try a different USB item in the same port
3. re-installing drivers from your ResScan 3.07 for the reader as per Uncle_Bob 's post
4. re-installing device drivers from Win XP for your USB ports

etc... a process of elimination...

Sorry about the Mac confusion... sometimes I forget that not everybody is on a Mac... heh heh

Thanks for the reply. I actually have a Mac. I ran ResScan with Fusion until I upgraded to the new Snow Leopard. I couldn't get Fusion to work right. I removed my Windows partition and put ResScan on an older PC my sister was using. I am down to number 4 on the list.
Number 5 is re-installing XP and starting over.

go to task manager and then processes and end a process called Opwarese4 and end it... This should fix your issue.
