Found out that this ComfortLite 2 Nasal Interface by Respironics is now available and has a new third option, direct seal.

John,

Just checked it out and it looks fantastic. I know, looks can be deceiving, but it comes with two of the three options offered, which is really nice. If you want nasal pillows, it also comes with the "simple cushion," which looks like a regular nasal pillow attachment. And if you order the dream seal, it comes with the simple cushion, too. Nice option.

This reminds me very much of the Aura, only it has adjustable sides straps which may make it more fitting for smaller heads, such as women who complain the headgear is too large on the Aura. I just wonder if the headgear will still flatten out the hairline in the morning and how soft the nasal pillow material is.

I am definitely interested in hearing from someone who has used this. Thanks for the heads-up.

Hi L o R i

However I think that the Pillows and the direct Seal would be a better choice for a two set since the simple cushion is a nasal mask and do not believe that they changed it. The direct Seal does look more like the Swift pillows.

John,

If you check out the options given to purchase on this site, it doesn't give you that combination. It seems to be nasal pillows with simple cushion or simple cushion with dream seal. No option for nasal pillows with dream seal, unless you can get that by calling them directly. I don't know.

Howdy,

Ted "the Titrator" has a ComfortLite 2 and is testing it now so expect a review in the next few days.

I'll check on the third set of options tomorrow and get back to everyone. With three sets of attachments in two sizes each, things can get confusing in a hurry...

That does look interesting. I wonder:

1. If the headgear base is rubberized.
2. Where the exhaust ports are.
3. If those lower straps rub the ears raw.

You're right, John. I think Lori was probably confusing Puritan Bennett's "dream seal" with Respironics "direct seal". Easy to mix up names of all this stuff!

Now we have:

Dreamfit (PB)
Dreamseal (PB)
Direct Seal (Respironics)
Nasal Seal (Aeiomed's "Headrest with blah-blah")
Navy Seal (oops!)

Rested Gal was right. When I wrote "dream," please substitute "direct." Yes, it does get confusing...

I thought they spelled their name like other companies, with a capital, ie "Oops".

Johnny,

The current ComfortLite comes with the DirectSeal. Can you find out what the difference is between that and the Nasal Pillow? Will the Nasal Pillow work with the old ComfortLite? If so can we get the pillows seperately?

Thanks

I've just looked at the link.

With that amount of material touching my forehead...

And nasal pillows that have a piece of metal in them....

I mean, have Respironics never heard of people who sweat - or even, just maybe, perspire - at night?

And how soft can a pillows piece with metal actually be?

Can't wait to hear what Ted had to say about sleeping in it.

O.

I wonder if the pillows themselves have the metal piece in them or if it's like the Aura and the structure leading up to the pillows just has the metal in it. Can't imagine anyone thinking metal in a nasal pillow would be well tolerated.

Ted,

During last quarters Respironics Investors conference call, the big-wigs stated more than once that this interface is what they hope will bring users back that have defected to the ResMed Swift/S8 combo.

Their future is riding on your review... we're all holding our breath.

Sincerely,
wading thru the muck of the sleep study/DME/Insurance money pit!
