AEIOMed Aura Headrest Mask

Post by Titrator » Wed Feb 01, 2006 11:01 pm

I flew out to Houston last week to visit my co-workers at cpap.com and picked up a Headrest mask. I had one when it first came out and I tried the Rested Gal modification and it didn't work well for me, so I had not worn that mask in quite some time.

I have to say I am completely in love with the Headrest mask. I did the rubber band modification mentioned here on cpaptalk.com and it works like a charm. I would have to do some searching to give adequate credit to the mod creator, but I think you all know him. Thanks for such a simple way to improve an already dynamite product.

If you are looking for a new interface and you like the freedom of side-sleeping, you owe yourself to at least take a look at the Headrest. Very comfortable and easy to wear interface. I keep a great seal with it as well.

Hi Ted!

jcarn is the person who came up with the cool rubber band fix:

Dec 03, 2005 fix for aura - the rubber band trick

Glad you're back safe and sound, and lovin' the sweetest mask on the planet!

Three cheers for the Aura Headrest. I've got my rubberband on mine too. Luckily I found a good one in the house. Going to go shopping for some good strong rubberbands this weekend.

Finally, sleeping on my sides again without the torture. It's a great feeling when you find a mask that works for you. So darn happy that I can hardly contain myself. Isn't it funny how such a thing can make someone so darn happy? A non-hosehead would never understand. LOL.

A big YES to being able to sleep on my side again..... And, being able to snuggle up to the soft pillow. Does it get any better than that?

That's what I'm talking about

Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones, but I find that my Swift goes wherever my Aura goes! I sleep fine, with no leaks, on my side with either mask! And with those Shapeable pillows from Target, I'm able to really snuggle down into the pillow with no problems using either of these fine masks!.
(I love my pappillow best though when I have to pull out my FF mask !)
Guess bottom line is -----It's all about options!

Ted, Did the Houston folks want to get a look at your new svelt physique before they did not recognize you any more?

Glad to here you are back to the Aura... it was your great review that convinced a few of us to give it a try. I, myself have never looked back, thanks the Aura is a lifesaver.

Aura Rubber Band Trick

Post by felineperson3 » Fri Feb 17, 2006 3:13 pm

Thanks RG for linking back to the rubberband fix for the Aura. I don't have time to get on the site often and had missed this tip. I had given up on mine, too, since I had never been brave enough to remove the headgear from mine. This certainly solves the problem of the nosepiece not wandering from your face through the night. Makes one wonder why the designers of these expensive masks can't incorporate a simple solution to the original design when one of our own (even though we've been sleep deprived and our brains oxgen deprived for x number of years ) can come up with such a simple solution.

Thanks to you, jcarn, for sharing the solution so that all of us that were so excited in the beginning and purchased an Aura can now take them out of our bedside drawers and enjoy them for at least an occasional switchoff.

ImageCongrats to you, Ted, on your weight loss!!!

Yes

I didn't read about the rubber-band fix before. I will try it tonight and hope I can use the Aura I bought a couple of weeks ago. I have given up on my ComfortCurve unless I'm on my back...it definitely won't work on my side.

And I can't tell you how wonderfully the XL pillows work to make it not only the most comfortable mask to use, but leak-proof! Never thought I would say that about a mask. For someone who could never sleep through a night because of being "trained" to wake to check for leaks, or to adjust the mask to fix them, etc., almost every night now is spent sleeping straight through. I wouldn't use any other mask.

And then for some of us, it is a great mask with no alterations at all, rubber bands or panty hose otherwise.
