respironics backup and software

Post by phil1001 » Tue Jul 31, 2007 11:14 pm

Hi,

For those who have had issues with their respironics cards crashing, losing data and various other issues...

I have written a small utility that downloads the smart card data to a file. This file can be saved to your hard drive on a daily basis, or uploaded to the companion website. In case of problems, the latest file can be uploaded back to the card.
The utility also allows clean formatting of your smart card returing it to a "virgin" state, this may be useful on cards that are being rejected by the reader or CPAP unit.

There is a companion website that allows you to upload and store all of your data files as well in case something should happen to them.

The next phase of the website will be the online charting of the saved data files into your own profile.

Phil, have you been in contact with your fellow Canadian, James Skinner, to see if you could integrate Encore Pro Analyzer with your card reading software?

Thanks....... I'll play with it this afternoon -- If it works as claimed it's worth a zillion$$$
What application have you been able to import the data in to?

Bert

Phil....

I'm hoping that you're building the foundation for a business that will allow those without software to have an economical.....and convenient....way to obtain a read-out from their smart-cards.

If you can build a system that allows "software deprived" people to transmit the contents of their card to you.......then, receive an e-mailed report from you that gives them the same info they'd get if they had the Encore Pro software......you should be able to make a reasonable return on your investment......and help many, many people escape the over-charging that is prevalent in the medical industry.

A bunch of us want to see you succeed!

Please keep us advised about the progress you're making. We want to know when we can upload card contents.....and get an e-mailed report back.

There has to be a way for you to have customers subscribe to your service so that they can get the info they need to correctly manage their own treatment.

Gerald

Can't wait to get my card reader and start using the site!
It looks like it will be very helpful.

Thanks!
(and I left a donation, of course )

Wow,
what a huge positive response - probably not for the quality of my work but IMHO more like everyone is fedup with being ripped of by over zealous MD's and manufacturers.
I like everyone else (on the forum) has OSA and I use an M series with a smartcard which I purchased foolishly thinking I could use it and the software to help monitor my health and tweak my settings. Of course different versions didnt work with Vista, data appears to go missing, card readers trash the smart card and then the new software gets withdrawn from the market.
I put together a small utility which will save the raw data to a daily file and if necessary can rewrite it to the card, or it can be uploaded to your own private data store on mycpap.org - for those that worry - the data holds your name, the model number and serial of your xPAP unit - no address, no healthcare numbers etc... that is locally added to EP on your pc.
Once I have untangled the data I am sure you can all suggest ways in which you would like the data to be displayed and what is important to you to monitor your health.
Please feel free to suggest ideas, write in the forum or whatever, its for OSA sufferers to help sufferers especially newbies understand the whole range of issues stemming from OSA such as depression, male ED and so on.
Thanks
Phil

Phil.....

Once you get all your systems worked out.......and people can simply transmit their card contents to you....then get a full report e-mailed back to them.....I'm betting people would gladly pay 10-cents a day for the service.

If you charged $29.95 per year for a subscription, people wouldn't be paying much more to you than what the manufacturer's software formerly cost them (when they could purchase it).

If your system ends up being easier to install and operate when compared to the manufacturer's software (which is no longer available), you should do well.

The old hoseheads will guide the newbies to you......if you get a smoothly operating system worked out.

Gerald

PS We're entering a new age.....read the book "Wikinomics".....It confirms that what you're doing is the right way to go.

You two guys are awsome! You should both consider coordinating your efforts to come up with a third party software for the Respironics SmartCard.

President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

When you two start selling shares of stock, let us know! This is an idea whose time has come.

Thanks!

Based on whats been done so far it does appear technically feasible (now that we know there is no encryption on the card data). I wish I was feeling better so that I could help out more...
