My Hybrid Mask follow-up!
My Hybrid Mask follow-up!
I've had the mask a little over 2 weeks and I really like it. I have been able to use the nasal pillows most nights, but able to mouth breathe when my nasal congestion gets bad. It took a few days to get used to the air blowing across my face, being used to a ComfortLite 2. I also have a beard and it seals good. I recommend this mask to anyone with nasal congestion, but still likes to breathe through their mouth when possible. I now have 2 good masks hybrid for main use and ComfortLite 2 as a backup.
Hope this helps someone,
crd

Do you use the Hybrid with an autoPAP or CPAP?crd wrote:I've had the mask a little over 2 weeks and I really like it. Numbers CRD?
CRD ... did you experience high numbers when you started using the Hybrid with your CPAP?
I've been wondering about other folk's experience with the Hybrid and CPAP machines.
I discovered I had to raise my pressure quite a bit to allow for the high flush rate of the Hybrid and wondered if it was just the ResMed S8 CPAP machines that don't work well with this mask or if other brands have the same problem.
Innomed said they were considering changes because of problems with the S8 but I didn't know if the problems were confined to the S8 or held for all CPAP machines.

Re: Numbers CRD?
If a difference exists for AHI numbers, it would only be between those machines being used in auto mode due to their differences in computer algorithms. Because CPAP mode is the same regardless of machine brand, there should be no correlation between Hybrid AHI problems and machine brand. Generally, the S8 in auto mode has a more rapid response to increasing apnea/hypopnea induced pressures than the RemStar auto. That may be what Innomed is trying to resolve but I really don't know since I have not talked to them about those specifics. Another issue is with what mask setting to use for the Hybrid in order to get accurate leak data from ResMed machines. I have talked to the Innomed folks regarding the issue with mask settings.Arizona-Willie wrote:CRD ... did you experience high numbers when you started using the Hybrid with your CPAP?

numbers
i couldn't get my post to work correctly when i tried yesterday. i red post by ozij, and now know how to fix the problem. what i was wandering was if i need to know what my numbers are. Apria told me that i only need to bring in my card to get checked if i was having problems. if i need to know numbers, how do i go about finding them out?
thanks,

I'm glad you are feeling much better SD ... you are much kinder and gentler when you're not all pissed off at someone.Snoredog wrote:hey crd your avatar looks like DreamStalker
Oh, and my nose is not that big and I did stop drinking beer several years ago ... so the likeness is somewhat off.

I just completed my third night using the hybrid but find that my ResMed S8 thinks that the mask fit is very poor. I find no leaks at all. I have the mask type set to Swift thinking that it was the closest to the hybrid.
When using the S8 in auto mode I was awakend a few times with the pressure quite elevated. I switched to cpap mode and it was better but did have the loss of pressure alarm sound a few times. It would beep three or four times and quit.
Any further word on the compatibility issue?
Thank you
