Loose airfit p10
Loose airfit p10
Hi
After taping the Climateline tubing hole at the connection site [waiting for DME to send a new tube], sleepyhead continues to show a leak.
Last night I tried switching the nasal pillow size from small to medium and my leak per sleepy head, increased.
My airfit p10 headgear seems too loose even after washing in hot water.
Adjusting the split strap has not helped.
This morning I woke up with the pillows below my nostrils and the strap slipped off my head down to my neck.
Any other ideas????
Also, my sleep report on the airsense p10 shows a smiley face while sleepy head shows a major leak. Maybe the smiley face on the sleep report does not change until the mask fit check is tested again???
Thank you

Re: Loose airfit p10
The machine will show a smiley face unless the major leaks (over 24) last more than 30% of the session.

Re: Loose airfit p10
I use the Airfit P10, and I also use a chinstrap to keep my mouth closed.
I put the chinstrap on after the P10, and the chinstrap keeps the P10 straps from sliding around on my head.
Do a search for Ruby chinstrap to see the kind I use.
This setup works great for me.

Re: Loose airfit p10
If you can sew (or have someone do it for you) then try shortening the strap by taking a 'tuck' in each of the straps. Another method would be wash & then dry with a hot blow dryer.
Either way, what you described is a really loose fit & if you can get the headgear to the proper, smaller size, that may fix the problem.

Re: Loose airfit p10
The best way I have found to shrink the strap is to remove it, wash and rinse in really hot soapy water and dry with a hairdryer or tumble dryer on hot. About once a week or maybe more.
The tightest position seems to be both straps together at the high back of my head.
Good luck.

Re: Loose airfit p10
Hi,
Thank you all for the helpful suggestions. I will try them all and let you know what works for me.
I am very new - 19 days of cpap usage.
Is the head strap removable from the frame?
To what extent could pillow size effect leakage?
To what extent does a major leak effect cpap efficiency?
Thanks again,
Kathy

Re: Loose airfit p10
It is removable for cleaning. I wash mine and put it in the dryer. There should have been a guide in the package showing how to remove but if you don't have it here is a link to download. http://www.resmed.com/us/dam/documents/ ... er_eng.pdfSonny45boy wrote:

I'll let others address the leak issue.
It would be helpful if you would go to the user control panel and then pick the equipment tab and list your equipment as text. That way it would come up each time you post.

Hi,
Where is the User Control Panel????
I looked once before without success.
I do not see this at the top of my screen.

You have to register as a user I believe it is on the right top of the home page. When you have registered you have the user control panel which will be on the top left of the home page.

too large a leak makes the cpap totally ineffective.
more than around 30lpm leak and the machine starts having trouble telling what kind of an event you might be having.

Re: Loose airfit p10
The pillow size effects leakage by not getting a good seal. The extent that cpap efficiency is effected is determined by time and amount.Sonny45boy wrote: To what extent could pillow size effect leakage?

Since you are using using Sleepyhead this is something you can monitor and work on correcting.
Or if you are wanting more input on your leaks, you could take a screenshot of your Sleepyhead data and post here.

Re: Loose airfit p10
I believe Resmed excessive leak is 24/l min and your's show 90% of the time at 19.20 or less. So there could be improvement but it's not over the 24/l for long periods. I'm not a ResMed user and others have more knowledge.
