Noctuary, You need to get another machine. Your total lack of energy may be because your therapy is not working well. You will never know until you get the right machine. Even if you have to pay for it yourself, it will be worth it to get out of your current misery.palerider wrote:noctuary settled for a brick
You probably can use a new machine for at least five years and the cost of the machine should calculate to less than 40 cents per day - well worth it to get to a better energy level!

Six months in, good low AHIs and 8 hrs a night but still nap most days for about 30 mins after lunch. Lots more mental acuity, several dreams a week and lower blood pressure. Getting better over time but you're right - it's not overnight!

I just had a major car repair; can't do much for a while. And while I still feel tired, I am better than I was before the machine. It was damn awful before. Now I'm daily fatigued.ChicagoGranny wrote:Noctuary, You need to get another machine. Your total lack of energy may be because your therapy is not working well. Yes, it show nightly AHI, monthly average, pressure, and some other things that I don't understand. I check every morning, and I am always below 4, usually between 1 and 3.8.ChicagoGranny wrote:Well noctuary, if you have an Escape Auto, doesn't it have a display that at least shows AHI?My machine: ResMed S9 Escape Auto/H5i humidifier; in APAP mode- pressure range 7-20

As for as exercise, you have to walk at least (3 miles / 5km). Is it AHI that is below 4? Do you usually have cold hands/feet? Issues with GI tract?Noctuary wrote:Yes, it show nightly AHI, monthly average, pressure, and some other things that I don't understand. Re: How long to i start feeling good from CPAP?
Many people feel better quickly, some take a few weeks or months, some never feel better. Even if you don't feel better with CPAP, untreated apnea is probably killing you slowly.
Do look for other causes of fatigue.
A fully data capable machine would help you delve into the problem more deeply, for instance, looking for problems like flow limitations and extremely long apneas. I understand that's not an easy option right now for you.
What's your pressure settings? I find I feel better if I increase my starting pressure a bit.

Many people feel significant benefits after just one day of use. It is not uncommon, even, to have a patient wake up in a sleep lab during their CPAP titration study (where the ideal pressure of the machine is determined) and say "I haven't slept that well in years!" It can, however, take up to 6 months for the full benefits to surface -- it takes that long for your body and brain to adjust to normal sleep cycles.

Re: How long to i start feeling good from CPAP?
I have been on CPAP for over a year. I didn't start feeling better till November. I still don't feel 100%, but I'm off modadfinil, and I can function now throughout the day. I'll still have some bad days; however, I am glad that I stuck with it.

Cold feet = bad circulation, so I'd look into that with your MD.

Re: How long to i start feeling good from CPAP?
I looked like warmed over death for 90-100 days after I started CPAP. I felt I was better off before I started. After 100 days or so, I began to reap the benefits. Some say that sleep deficit is the culprit. For whatever reason you should stick it out. It will get better.

Re: How long to i start feeling good from CPAP?
Your problem can be as unique as you are. Probably for every member on this forum I would hazard a guess that each will have a different problem experience as well as to when they started feeling better. All that I can offer is some things for you to ponder. Has the CPAP caused you to change your normal sleep position or sleep habit? Are you experiencing any pain or discomfort? if so, where and why? Are you being annoyed by any portion of the CPAP therapy? . . . I don't mean the "wake-up feeling tired" part; that's a result. Start analyzing everything. It could wind up being nothing more than the air temperature is bothering you.
Good luck!
Good luck!
