RESMED RESSCAN SERIAL ADAPTER
RESMED RESSCAN SERIAL ADAPTER
Can anyone tell me if this is all I need to connect my apap S8 to my pc or is there anything else I need? I have seen the data cards and card readers but it would be half the cost if I can just by this serial adapter. Any help on the matter will be much appreciated, thanks

Check out the info about various data downloads available in this data management guide. It looks to me like your best choice, better than cable or card, is the Reslink adapter, whatever that is.Gazhacks wrote:Can anyone tell me if this is all I need to connect my apap S8 to my pc or is there anything else I need? See if you can find the data guide for the UK. It might be a little bit different.

Re: RESMED RESSCAN SERIAL ADAPTER
You need to check the S8 very closely, Gazhacks. I own both S7 and S8 Autosets, though they are USA models. The S7 has the serial port, requiring the cable. My early S8 has the proprietary card and no port for a cable. I opened one of them up to see if there were any intenal connectors to avoid buying the extra hardware, and found none. So just check it out very carefully, or you'll own extra stuff that's of no use. Another down side of the serial cable, is any PC built in the past many years probably won't have a serial port; you would likely have to buy a serial port adaptor card for the PC (maybe not, but likely). Good luck.Gazhacks wrote:Can anyone tell me if this is all I need to connect my apap S8 to my pc or is there anything else I need? Re: RESMED RESSCAN SERIAL ADAPTER
Thanks for that, the only port my S8 spirit has is where the humidifier slots in a 2 prong conection? other than this there is only the slot where the data card goes. As this machine doesnt belong to me Im warrie of buying equipment for it especially as a card and reader cost around $100.00. I saw one of these and thought it would be cheaper to go down this route but having no slot to plug it in, its hopeless

Re: RESMED RESSCAN SERIAL ADAPTER
The "slot" on an S8 acutally pulls out and exposes another internal connector. This is where the cables for USB and Serial connection match to.Gazhacks wrote:other than this there is only the slot where the data card goes

WHAT???? Could you show with a picture please, would be very gratefull but still doubtfull as I have been over my machine several times. The only part I have seen is removing the cover where the data card goes in. Thank you for the info will go now and pull my machine to bits lolbillbolton wrote:The "slot" on an S8 acutally pulls out and exposes another internal connector. Re: RESMED RESSCAN SERIAL ADAPTER
These two documents should clear it up for you. You remove the module that forms the card slot and replace it with either a serial port module or a usb port module. What you need to be sure to buy, rather than just a cable, is the module itself that plugs into the back of the S8. The module has a serial or usb port on it. It looks like then you just use a normal serial or usb cable to connect to the PC.Gazhacks wrote:WHAT????
