Data, at last!

Post by BleepingBeauty » Thu Jun 18, 2009 10:47 am

I feel like I've given birth this morning.

Here's my first data upload, and I'm pleased to say it looks GOOD!

Image

I don't know what's up with all the snoring. Perhaps it's not really me, but the hose hanger I have slung over my wood headboard (a metal over-the-door type hook with a terrycloth headband hanging from it to hold the hose) making a lot of noise when I move around in bed, as it's able to slide back and forth a bit. I'll secure it better and see how the snore numbers look tomorrow. (But since the snore doesn't seem to be affecting the other numbers negatively, is it anything I have to be concerned about?)

P.S. I've been trying to resize the image to make sure it's easily readable here; any tips in that regard? TIA

Dx 11/07: AHI 107, central apnea, Cheyne Stokes respiration, moderate-severe O2 desats. (Simple OSA would be too easy. ;))

Congratulations! Looks good. Leak line is flat. Flat is good!! AHI of 1 not bad you beat me today! I would not really worry to much about the snores. Lots of things can be recorded as snores. Hose rubbing on the bed is a common one. Any vibration can be mistaken as a snore. Good luck, keep up the good numbers!!

I am green with envy on the leak rate line, mine was a little zipper in places though I beat you slightly on the AHI last night with 0.7 whoo hooo... my best so far.
Congrats on finally giving birth to long awaited offspring.

Regarding image size. I make the report sized at 100% then I take a screen shot of it and save as jpeg. I use Vista so screen shot and crop is done in one step. I never did try to do the pdf size thingy. Screen shot to jpeg was just easier for me. Doesn't really matter all that much though. We know what we are seeing even if it is slightly smaller. We can see that you had a good night data wise last night. The other question in my mind, how do you feel? You had been reporting AHI's in low teens. Do you notice any difference today?

Data looks great, except for the VS and you are going to work on that!

I wouldn't worry about the size of your upload. It is very readable. Some people make it so big that all the data (especially the right side) cannot be seen. Sometimes, if you go to "post a reply" and don't post (unless you want to of course ) but scroll down you will see most of the data, even that right side. Sometimes it is even too big for that!

Your post is just fine and, as I said, so is your data except for a little detective work to be done!

Thanks, Brenda. Now that the labor is over, it feels good!

Yes, I feel better today. (Still not at a point where I want to jump out of bed and start singing, but I'll get there.)

I'd still like to increase the amount of time that I'm able to sleep, but last night was pretty good, so I won't complain. It's definitely gotten better since I adopted Muffy's sleep hygiene tips (posted in my other thread). I got to sleep a little later than I should have last night, but just shy of seven hours in dreamland is a big improvement over what I was getting before. If I can keep going in the right direction consistently, I expect to feel better and better each day.

The data isn't as important as how I feel, but it sure is nice to have some idea of what's happening while I'm sleeping. If/when I have a bad night now, I'll be able to see what happened and hopefully avoid a repeat performance. I've emerged into the full light of day where my therapy is concerned, and it's a goooooooood feeling!

Congratulations, BB!
I think you're right about the "snores" coming from the hose hanger - both times they concentrated around when you settle down in bed -- if that's when you do your tossing and turnging, that's where the snores come from.

As long as you're on constant pressure, there's not much of a problem with that.

And as you say - the most important is the way you feel.

O.

Thanks! I've seen some reports uploaded that go right off the page, as you describe, and I didn't want to go there; just wanted to be sure it was big enough to read without straining anyone's eyesight. As long as it's readable, it's cool.

I'll secure my hose hanger before bed tonight, and we'll see if there's a big improvement in the VS tomorrow. It's GREAT to be able to experiment with something as simple as this and know that I'll have an answer about its effectiveness, instead of just hoping that what I'm doing is helping.

GOOD JOB!!!!

Me, I don't worry about the snores. My leaks are consistently in line, my AHI is consistently below 2, and I have no idea how to control snores anyway.

LOL,
B.

Congrats, BB!

I broke down and ordered the software and card reader before Resmed prevents me from getting it at all. But ... may I ask what VS and flow limitation are? I've been looking at my numbers on the machine's LCD, but today I didn't think to check till after noon.... I'm looking forward to being able to see real data too.

Thanks, ozij. You're on the money there, as that second solid block of "snore" occurred right after a bathroom break. I can't wait to see the hoped-for reduction in VS tonight, after I secure that hose hanger.

P.S. to everyone: Thanks for understanding how excited I am to finally be able to see and post my own data. It's been a very long time coming. Nobody else in my life can appreciate how important this has been to me, nor how I feel right now, and I'm grateful to have this other family who does get where I'm coming from on this subject.

I have noticed that the nights I have fewer awakenings, I feel better, even if only 6 - 7 hours of sleep if I am comparing them to 8 hours of "sleep" but frequent awakenings and lots of tossing and turning. Last night I had the grandson kicking me all night, tossed and turned, dogs barking, almost 9 hours on the machine and despite the kick butt AHI but I have felt better other mornings. Very subtle differences in how the "better" is. As long as it is "better" than PC (Pre-Cpap), I am fine with it.

VS is vibratory snores which can also be the vibrations from rubbing on the hose. Flow Limitations are only reported if you are running in Auto mode. It can best be described as a hypotnea wantabe that does not quite make it.

BB- I am soooo happy for you!

Glad that your numbers are so good - wouldn't be too concerned with snore unless the neighbors are banging on the walls to tell you to stop. (I have stopped worrying about VS if everything else is within "goal").

A flat leak line! You BleepingB----! I may get a flat line for an hour or so, then whacko, then relatively flat then whacko.

Any one ever realize that pap results are probably one of the few in the medical fied that you hope to be flat line?

Grats again BB!
