How to come to an understanding with your Quattro Full Face

Post by AAdjuster » Fri May 23, 2008 8:22 pm

How to come to an understanding with your Quattro, when it keep's giving you a hard time.

You make a deal with it like I did with mine.

If my Quattro would promise to seal properly, stay sealed and not give me leaks to make me lose sleep.

I promised I would stop throwing the Quattro up against the wall every night.

So far this arrangement is working, the Quattro is doing it's part of bargain.

And so am I.

I love my quattro. Are you putting it on with a freshly washed face? I use Aveeno face wash just before I mask up and I have had many zero leak nights. Also, I put the chin part on first and then the forehead part.

Good luck!

Yes I wash my face every night, and clean my mask every night also.

No leaks either.

I do both also and get no leaks... only if I secure it to where it hurts the bridge of my nose. I read through the instructions very carefully and tried all combinations of forehead dial loose / tight, lower straps tigther / looser than upper straps, etc. I've gotten it to where I have just about the least pressure on my nose, but it's still enough to cause redness and a bit of pain. I've seen that others have a similar problem. I must be part of the club .

I suspect having a classic Roman nose doesn't help .

Has anyone tried the Mack's Silicone Ear Plugs for the leaks at the eye/sore bridge of the nose problem?

And, goshes, guys, why haven't you tried Padacheeks for the Quattro bridge of the nose problem, huh??

I kinda feel like I have to say this but I suspect you've all heard it before. The Quattro has a lot of adjustments and if you think you have tried all combinations .... you probably haven't.

However, if you do have a "Classic Roman Nose" and maybe your childhood nickname was "Big Nose Norbert", you will likely have a problem with the Quattro. In my view, the nose depth of the flex seal isn't very much. It gives me a bit of sealing trouble and my nose is only like a minor Roman God.

If I get the mask tight I do get some irritation around the bridge of the nose. So I learned to leave the mask loose and let the air pressure push it away from my face all around. The straps hold it just close enough for the flex seal to work (the forehead support isn't even touching me). Standing up, it leaks like a sieve but laying down my face flattens out and it seals fine. Then the mask floats like a bubble on my face with no nose irritation. Okay, that sounds a little hokey and may not work for you but I felt I ought to mention it.

Note: I don't wash my face before sleep and I also have a full beard and moustache.

happy dreams

Lineman, that's how I had it set pretty much for my last attempt. The forehead piece wasn't even touching. I got a great seal all around except for the spot on either side of my nose where it curves to meet my face. I had to crank down a tiny bit to make that seal. Truth be told I think that if my nose hadn't already been sore it might have been okay.

I don't use Mack's Silicone Ear plugs, no leaks to speak of any more.

But I do have the Padacheeks bridge for the Quattro. It works very well.
