My response from EBAY

Post by dieselgal » Mon Aug 20, 2007 8:41 am

Dear Donna,

Thank you for writing eBay in regard to the removal of your CPAP masks.

I see you?re frustrated with the removal of your listing. I will do my
best to explain why this listing was removed.

ebay has been in contact with a leading CPAP manufacturer, and, along
with further research, it has been determined that CPAP masks are
categorized as a prescription item. I know this may be a bit confusing,
since it was permitted before. However, please note that our policies
do change, when it comes to keeping our community safe. Thank you for
your understanding towards this situation.

For more information on the eBay Medical Devices policy, please go to:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/med ... vices.html

If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to reply to this
email and let us know.

Sincerely,
Sophie

Hope that this kill the big player, CPAPONLINE and some DMEs who play with their stock

we, the small buyer and seller, once or twice per year are the real loser

It's good to see eBay finally following their own policy - like it or not, CPAP etc. are all PRESCRIPTION-NEEDED products.

The CPAP mask must not be a prescription item. It is ridiculous. The only reason it is a prescription item – because somebody wants to keep it this way, so every mask sold to final user costs that much. Every pharmacy has many health care items, which theoretically are more hazardous than CPAP mask (inhalers, warming pads, you name it)
Make condom a prescription item and tomorrow you’ll pay $25.00 for each instead of $3 for half a dozen. CPAP is a simple piece of plastic or rubber.

I have just bought a coffeemaker – it has coffee grinder, brewer, timer, small computer and warmer in it. Pretty sophisticated device - for $139.00. It is less than almost every new CPAP mask introduced to the market.
The CPAP mask must not be a prescription item.

My response about E-Bay, If you don't like their policies:

Don't EVER use them for ANYTHING.

Tell your friends and associates, never to use their services, and why.

Reward companies that operate the way you like. Keep the $$$ away from the ones that you don't. It's a simple rule to follow. Vote with your Wallet. Jim

So if the Guest and EBay are correct, do I also need a prescription for a filter. How about the distilled water for my humidifier. Ridiculous.

I do so love to breath!

It's a good thing XPAP doesn't use heavy Water in the HH. That would really be restricted. Jim

Mask for sale on Ebay by an English seller today.

http://cgi.ebay.com/New-FULL-FACE-CPAP- ... dZViewItem

Apparently Ebay agreed with the seller on being able to list the mask.

I would be willing to bet they will pull it. They just haven't seen it yet. I hope he sells it before they find it.

The seller of the above referenced mask has the following in his listing (viewable to all). It is in very large red letters:

"Note to eBay - please do not remove this listing under your Medical and Prescription Items policy. This is not an item that requires a prescription from, or the supervision of, a licensed practitioner. It is a consumable / replacement item in the same way as batteries are replaced in electrical items. Such masks are freely available and widely advertised on UK websites and publications etc and can be purchased by anybody without a prescription. You have now agreed this with me after previously removing listings."

I would say that this is a hopeful thing. If he can do this...

I do so love to breath!

It looks like they just hadn't found it at the time you posted....

Oooh, yea, they better reconsider that distilled water in the hands of untrained medical professionals. One could drown, you know.

And heaven forbid that we should even to be able to read our own manuals for our machines! Ya know, before cpap the thought never, ever, EVER occurred to me to search for cpap supplies. Heck, I did not even know what a cpap was!

Here is where I say yet another "thank you" to cpap.com, our hosts.
