CPAP Cruise

Post by Sleepless on LI » Sat Sep 16, 2006 7:57 pm

You've heard that old song, "Baby, let me take you on a sea cruise"? Well, we're talking CPAP cruise here. If you remember, we threw the idea out last year about getting together with all the wonderful people we've been getting to know on this site by trying to convene at some fun place or perhaps take a cruise. Well, our own Rock & Roll, Earl, has switched professions after 38 years and is now in his final stages of becoming a certified cruise franchisee (forgive me, Earl, if I'm saying it wrong). In other words, he will be the liaison between the vacationer/cruise goer and the cruise lines, setting up the details for folks to go on their cruises.

After talking with him, he has graciously offered to put together something for our members, at a group rate, of course, whereby we can all meet, have some fun, and maybe if we can get someone to help out (ahem, Johnny or someone in that category), we can book some guest speakers to join us, perhaps some specialists in the field of OSA and the like. It would be fun, relaxation and an opportunity to get to meet each other and gain some knowledge all at the same time. Hey, who knows, maybe we could have a costume party where we all wear our masks as disguises!

Anyway, I told Earl I would put this out to the board and see how many people would seriously be interested in being a part of something like this, so here it is. Feedback is very much welcomed. If you are planning to go on vacation sometime within the next year, maybe this would be something you would consider. Family and friends welcome, too!

Hose Head Cruise

Post by DMW » Sat Sep 16, 2006 8:49 pm

What a great idea!
All Earl has to do special for us is to make sure they have a good generator, and a 55 gallon drum of distilled water!!

A couple hundred hose heads in one place would be great.

Sounds like a fun trip!

Schedule permitting - I'm in

David

Are we having FUN yet?

Lori, if you're going to be there, COUNT ME IN!!!!!

Might I suggest that you consider the Port of New Orleans, for a variety of reasons including convenience and loyalty?

Arh be-Dar!!!!

Chuck

P.S. 40 lbs. and counting, Lor!

Does it have to be a cruise? How about a CPAP tropical vacation at a Club Med somewhere? I've heard that sleeping in those cruise ship cabins is terribly uncomfortable.

I am so excited to read the replies so far, plus the PMs and emails I've been getting, that show such an interest in this. Looks like this finally may happen. This discussion last year came, I believe, on the heels of Earl (Rock & Roll) suggesting everyone put their photo as their avatar as one way to know who we speak with all the time; which at first I didn't think was something I wanted to do, but then thought it really is a nice idea. So to be able to meet everyone once and for all, well, I think it's a beautiful thing. We all share such a common bond...just think, too, we'll all be in bed by 9 PM (LOL) and the ship will be empty. Nah, all of us compliant pappers will be out dancing and partying till 3 AM!!! (did I just write that???)

And, Chuck, what is this 40 lbs. you speak of, the weight I'VE GAINED? LOL.

Keep the responses coming, please. I hope R&R checks in soon on this to fill in the gaps.

CPAP and the art of balloon sculpturing

A Guess my pressure contest

Not to mention the ever popular Hairy Nostril Contest.

Thanks Lori for getting this thing rolling. I am in the process of the final details in buying a travel franchise and I just got certified as a travel planner. For me this is retirement, I cannot do nothing and I love to travel. My goal is not to make my retirement now, this is it, but to get together groups like ours, get the best price possible and meet and have a good time with everybody.

I think this would be a lot of fun and I want it to happen. The more we get to go, the cheaper I can put it together. It does not have to be a cruise, it can be a resort, I can do any kind of travel, but the facts are, people who cruise will do it again, it's just that much fun, and on a cruise it is easy for us to do things as a group. The cabins can be small or as large as your budget will allow but you will find there is so much to do, shows, casinos, comedy acts, swimming, lounging, whatever you like to do, you will never be in it except to sleep a little, change and shower and keep your luggage. We do need to establish from what port to leave from, what time of year (it is cheaper to cruise non holiday and summer) where as a group would we like to see ie tropical, overseas, Alaska etc. and if the majority are partiers (3:00AM Lori), or sun worshippers, or like to take shore excursions. So...in keeping with the list rules of not soliciting, I need everybody who's interested to private message me with your email address and let me send a survey to you and also let me know what you are willing to budget. I can make it as cheap or as luxurious as the group wants, I just want to get the best price for us all and I want to meet everybody and have a good time. That is why I am getting into this.

So let's say everybody emails me or Lori who can forward to me whomever is interested in the next two weeks. For all who have not cruised, I have gone on 18 of them myself NOT as a cruise agent, they are in my opinion the best vacation ever and overall cheaper than land trips. Think about it, no cooking and a LOT of eating, being waited on by room stewards, Vegas style shows and around the clock entertainment. And someone else does the driving.

I look forward with Lori to putting this thing together.

Earl

I can do NY, Baltimore, or any lake for that matter.
I've not been on a cruise, and never planned on taking one...couldn't find one that went to Iceland anyway.

I like the idea of the camaraderie, dancing and food, but I'm not sure I want to part with my duct tape, or get "dressed" for dinner.

Can you see us all doing the 'Bunny Hop' in full gear? ...you put your hose in, take your hose out, put your mask in, EXCHANGE it all about - and hope to get it back eventually - at least by 0300.

Is there a time frame in mind at this point? I may have to sell my cpap equipment to pay for this, you know, ha ha.

I'll think more about it if you can get a commitment from Frankie Ford !! If you have to ask who he is, you can't go, ha ha.

(LORI: The words are: "WON'T you (Won'tchew) let me take you on a sea cruise? Ooh-e, baby, ooh-e ...Feel like jumpin, won't you come along with me....& now I'm on bended knee....."

Don't have to dress for dinner if you don't want. They have formal or casual dinners, whatever your heart desires. And duct tape is allowed, I never leave home without it!

Will have timing on survey or if everyone wants to put their two thoughts on a thread as to timing, I am open to anytime. Already some want winter and some summer. If we are spit we could do two. I am open at this point to all suggestions! Let's hear them!
