Wading Thru the Muck! BreatheX Review

Just waiting to be accessorized!

If the makers of the BreatheX CPAP were looking to make a machine that does not look "CPAP" they've certainly succeeded. Where I think they have really succeeded, is in creating the first CPAP platform that interacts directly with people. As proof, I suggest you let your imagination consider the possibilities to accessorize this innovative machine. I’m not talking about the medical stuff like hoses and filters. I’m talking about the fun stuff, the stuff that makes the machine a more welcome part of our lives. Here are a few ideas...

The first C-pod

What electronic device would be complete without a way to add an onboard ipod and speakers? Just think we could all browse C-tunes, download our favorite music and our favorite APAP algorithm.

The Shiatsu BreatheX

I can't believe that this thing doesn't all ready have one of these. The cushy padding of its neck roll is just the place for this mystical ancient Japanese accessory. Imagine fading off to sleep while the gentle fingers of the Shiatsu BreatheX relax your neck muscles. Oops!... Isn't it overly relaxed neck muscles that are the reason we have to use a CPAP in the first place?

BreatheX...helping you to sleep and to wake up.

Gee, these guys are going to almost feel stupid having missed this one… a built in alarm clock. There is nothing more embarrassing than sitting on a plane to New York, sound asleep thanks to the miraculous battery powered air splint of the BreatheX only to find that you've managed to sleep through till London.

How about - BreatheX…looking cool and staying cool.

I seem to recall, years ago, seeing (probably in a Sharper Image catalogue) some sort of personal air conditioner that hung around your neck. Again, another accessory that is tailor made for the BreatheX. Considering it’s got to be cheaper to air condition just your neck instead of the whole house, the savings alone would pay for a whole case of BreatheX machines...one for everybody in the family.

Build-a-Bear...Build-a-BreatheX?

In my house when we are looking to "dress up" our padded plushies we head to Build-a-Bear. For those of us in need of a bear that can blow, why not a Build-a-BreatheX-Bear? If the Build-a-Bear folks can stick a heart or a music box in our Teddies before they stitch them up the back… why not a CPAP...or would it be a Teddy-pap? ...Now there is an idea. We can all snuggle into bed with our BreatheX Teddy-pap.

What can you conclude from all this silliness?

I realize that if you've come here to find out facts and figures about the BreatheX CPAP I may have not told you much. The point of this exercise, suggesting what the BreatheX CPAP could be, is to demonstrate that this is a CPAP that has been designed to interact with people and not the bedroom floor. In my opinion, this is what we should expect from a CPAP machine and a CPAP company. I have found the BreatheX CPAP, as it is, to be a very usable and functional machine. As far as what it could be? I trust that the folks at Hoffman Labs will continue to impress us with innovative, people oriented CPAP equipment. I'm certainly happy to have the BreatheX in my CPAP therapy arsenal.
