I don't have anything against a FFM but I don't like waking up with a dry mouth.
I DO have something against a FFM. I can't sleep with them, and they give you more surface to leak. I tried taping, which I decided would be less intrusive than a chin strap. I have a Sahara-dry mouth in the am, even if I tape (which ensures my mouth is closed all night). Just too much air blowing around back there!

I find the best result with a nasal mask (I like the Nano), dry mouth gel, my bite guard, and tape.
YMMV. Good luck!

I take a 3 inch non-adhesive Ace brand bandage, loop it around 4 times, safety pin the ends together and use that. It may not be optimal, but it works pretty well for me, is comfortable, and cheap.

I had to chuckle because we Oracle mouth mask users have just the opposite problem with multiple small solutions: how to learn not to breathe through your nose. Ain't this stuff fun!

Check the humidity setting and for any leaks, both can be a factor.

Tried the tongue on the roof of the mouth in front of the teeth yesterday and while in bed. The skin on the roof of my mouth is sore and burning now. I also discovered that I can still mouth breathe like this if my mouth opens, cheeks puff out and air goes around the tongue. It's important to keep the mouth closed. I have a Resmed chin strap that I can try but don't think I can wear that during a sleep study.

Thanks for all the suggestions, folks!

it's actually important to learn to put your epiglottis in the right place in your throat.

I can open my mouth, stick out my tongue and no air comes out when I'm using pillows, at any pressure.

it's the thing in your throat that determines what goes whether, does it go down your throat to your stomach, or into your lungs.

Palerider, how do you train to keep the epiglottis in the right position in the throat? Any hints?

You have to make a tiny harness, and itty bitty treats . . .
