I don't think the breaks in use matter so much as the total time used. I was confronted about my "up 2 hours, then back to therapy, up an hour, then an hour of therapy..." a week or two back...and I had to point out that I'm NEW to this, and I'm not up and down all night, I simply remove the mask if I feel too confined, then put it back on a little later on to continue therapy. I was nearly read the riot act. Sheesh. Some people don't get that it's an entirely foreign experience that can take time to get used to. I also put on the mask at night as I'm in bed playing with the ipad or online. It adds to my overall time, and my brain has been getting used to the idea that mask = bedtime = sleep.
Best of luck with your settings! As one or more post stated...it's better to do some self-adjustments to get yourself acclimated than to not use it at all. You can always work toward the goal of whatever the doctor ordered, or what WORKS FOR YOU.
