Some are designed for snorers and have little holes in the front so you can still mouth breathe. Some are for sports and most of those are from upper teeth only.

I'm not a mouth breather but I like the Quattro Air FFM. I use the mouth guard because it keeps the lower jaw in a forward position and eliminates leaks on the full face masks.

Hey I'm having trouble deciding to get a small or a medium, I'm in between sizes on ResMed's sizing guide.

Can anyone take a ruler and measure the cushion size of their airfit / quattro air cushion so that I can see how well the actual dimensions compare to the sizing guide? This could potentially save me a great deal of headache.

Took some measurements the best I could. Let me know if you need some more measurements.

AirFit F10 - Large, Outside nose to chin 4 1/2", Inside 3 1/4"
Quattro Air - Medium, Outside nose to chin 4 1/8", Inside 2 3/4"

It seems the large size matches up with the sizing guide exactly using the outer dimensions.
Medium matches up to within 1/4 of an inch.

It's interesting to see this, I almost wish a manufacturer supplied a scale drawing

Anyone have a small cushion to see if the trend continues?

And the small cushion is a hair over 3.75" nose to chin.

Hello, So I just received my AirFit P10 For Her mask and Air Sense 10 machine yesterday. I have a few questions.

Are the pillows supposed to fit right up against the nose with no sound/air coming from them?

I am assuming when you talk about "leaks" that means you hear air coming from the pillows or hose?

Why does the machine put out alot of air and then levels out?

I looked at the sleep time and it said 0:19......does that mean I slept 19 minutes??? I was in bed for 6 hours.

For some reason I was trying to mouth breathe.......because i felt like I was getting too much air......can I adjust the machine or not?

Thank you - I apologize if the questions seem trivial...but I have no idea what I am doing. My neurologist wanted me to go for a second sleep study to work out the kinks....but my pulmonary doctor just ordered the machine and here I am.....

Welcome to the forum.
It would be better if you started a new thread devoted to your particular problems. You've posted in an old thread about a mask you don't even use. Lots of forum members won't even bother looking at the old thread and will miss your problem.
Also please take the time to register and post your equipment in the equipment profile.
Also figure out exactly which AirSense 10 machine you have...it should have either CPAP, or ELITE or AutoSet on the lower rights side face of the machine.
It's impossible to help you optimally without knowing exactly what you are using.

But yes..the nasal pillows fit up against the nostrils (but you should feel them inside the nostrils) and there shouldn't be any noise from where they are touching your skin.

And the 0.19...yeah that means 19 minutes but could just reflect the last session if you happened to turn the machine off briefly.

There is software available so you can view the usage better and see if it is really only showing 19 minutes all night or not. If leaks are really really bad...the machine might not think you are using it.

I usually can't be bothered with people that can't be bothered to create an account and *participate*, but this is a good question that throws a lot of people.

but it all has to do with air pressure, and air flow.

pressure is the result of flow meeting a resistance. without any resistance, there's no pressure.

the machine is programmed to generate flow at whatever level is needed to build up a desired pressure, say 10cm/h2o.

if you cover the end of the hose, the airflow hits that resistance and the pressure builds up quickly, and the fan in the machine slows way down, to just enough speed to maintain the pressure... at that point, there's no flow.... if you open up the end of the hose a little, or put on a mask with vents, then there's some extra flow, so the fan speeds up a little. in fact, you can probably hear the fan of the cpap speeding up and slowing down if you put your ear to the flow generator while you breath in and out.

if you take the mask off, so there's little resistance, the pressure drops, the machine speeds up, possibly to max, creating as much flow as it possibly can, in an effort to ... basically, pressurize the whole room.
