The Respironics Plus does not give the details needed to support therapy decisions. Your doctor (to use an RG expression) told you right.

And his attempt to handle mouth leaks, makes sense to me.

As does Bingo's analysis of the pressure decisions - sleep being preferable to being waked up by noise (I should know, on my faulty machine I would be snapped awake whenever it went above 8, so I limited it to 7.5...).

And yes, details are extremely important - like the fact that a Respironics Pro 2 (with software) will give you the details you need, and Plus, or a Pro will not.

pharmwoman, your machine can't give more than compliance details, your doctor is listening to you and trying to solve your problems, you seem to be sleeping better - you've got a lot of input in your real life for you to come to conclusions.

It sounds like the Dr. is lost in LaLa Land, he had you on 10 cm, his best guess, so you lost 5 lbs and he wants to drop to 7 cm with no method of seeing what you need. I would think him messed up on one setting or the other, or both.

Your hubby working for a DME should rate you a better machine, auto or Pro 2 at the least. I in the meantime would work with the FF Mask and 10 cm as it's the avg pressure most are treated at. I don't like your Dr., and it's not my health, but I hope you can get better treatment. Jim

And they wonder why we have bad things to say about our treatment.

one comment bugged---that partial treatment is better than no treatment?? Is a pressure of 7 no treatment???
And I used the fp FF mask for several weeks and all of a sudden(as seems to happen in the cpap world) became intolerant and leaky and aggravating as all get out--

No, a pressur of 7 is not the same as no treatment.

But a pressure of 7 is only partial treatment if you're pressure was correctly titrated at 10, because you're getting less pressure than you need to effectively treat your OSA.

If a pressure of 7 CM isn't enough to keep your airway open, it IS the same as no treatment. It depends on what you need to do the job. Jim
