I have been doing this a long time and I can tell you it is worth the effort.

If you get a machine you will want to do two things...

1. Get an Auto CPAP machine with data. You can run it so it automatically chances the pressure (APAP) or set on a fixed pressure (CPAP).

2. Get data software so you know what is going on. I've played Fantasy Hockey for a number of years and if I can take the time to look at player stats to build a make believe team, I can surely look at my very real breathing stats.

One last point... I drive a vanpool to work and have to get a physical certificate every year. When I went a week ago the doctor said that in the US the laws were changing to make it more difficult to get that certificate (commercial drivers). He said that the doctors had to be certified to perform the exam and he went as far as to say that he would be measuring the neck size and if it were over a certain amount he would require a sleep study test. I don't know if he was just blowing smoke or ???, but it appears that there is more visibility into driving and sleep disorders.
