asv advanced bipap & sleepyhead

Post by Creekredman123 » Thu Feb 20, 2014 8:07 am

sleephead software saved my life. being able to download info from my c-pap machine showed I had very severe central sleep apnea. 2 new sleep studies confirmed that I stopped breathing 103.1 times an hour. Just got my asv advanced bipap machine. sleepyhead software sees it. but the numbers are all wrong. using it 6-8 hours per night. saids .43, the ahi is in the 10000's, & am unable to see & print individual central, obstructive, hyponeas, pulse pressure, etc as before. please help!

Which model PR S1 ASV machine?

Model 950 sometimes works and sometimes doesn't and sometimes when it works we get whacko numbers like you are seeing.
Model 960 I haven't seen any one get it to even work at all but maybe you have got it to at least try.

The problem is that SleepyHead simply isn't fully compatible with the PR S1 ASV machines. Nothing we can do to fix it.
So sorry.

There is an Encore version of the software that can be used so you can at least see the most important things.
Contact me via private message (you need to be registered here at the forum to send PMs) and tell me what operating system is on your computer so that I know which version to point you to.
Also tell me what the machine model is 950 or 960...that's important too.

Maybe of incidental interest: My PR autoSV Advanced model 950-rev P works fine with SH, however that may be due to the fact that it's a year and a half old (only 3.5 months blower hours tho ). Maybe SH's creator, Mark, will weigh in on this issue.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

I posted this in a similar thread but it sounds like it may pertain to your case too:

I have the 950P model and was able to get it to work with Sleepyhead. The data does get whacky, but only when not using any of the ASV features, at least in my experience. For example:

Straight CPAP pressures (EPAPmin = EPAPmax, PS min = 0 and PS max = 0, which automatically turns BPM off)

or

Bilevel pressures (EPAP min = EPAPmax, PS min = PS max, BPM = off)

But the data looks fine again if using Bilevel pressures with a back-up rate (like a BiPAP ST). So it may be that turning the BPM off is what confuses Sleepyhead. Your data will be read fine by Encore even if Sleepyhead isn't displaying it correctly.

An interesting entry. You may be right about BPM feature and SH. BTW, quite awhile ago I asked if an ASV could be used as a BiLevel and John Fisher gave me some intriguing advice, which I guess you've tried. I haven't yet, but mean to with my PR, since there's no way on a ResMed S9 Adapt to make it work. Here's that old thread:

Shortcake, one question for you. Have you tried to update your firmware using the SD card method which is outlined in the clinician's manual? My PR autoSV 950P beeps once every few nights and when I reach over to view the error code on the LCD there's nothing there... it's driving me crazy and I'm getting tired of using earplugs

Yes, I have tried my machine in various "modes", but since that may be frowned upon or give others ideas, feel free to PM me if you'd like more details Disclaimer to others: Using non-prescription settings on an ASV can mess you up!

I haven't updated any firmware. What advantages are there to updating? Note: I got my PR ASV in March 2013, so it's not very old. Have you unplugged your machine then plugged it back in? That might reset whatever is causing the error/beeping. At least, for your sake, I hope that would work! I only wish there was a way to turn off the "BEEP" when turning the machine on and off!!
