Just like islandboy5150...I panic a little at the thought of being without it. I NEVER want to go back to feeling like I did...not even a little bit!

Quote from someplace:

IF IT IS IMPORTANT TO YOU, YOU WILL FIND A WAY. IF NOT, YOU WILL FIND AN EXCUSE

It's all up to you!

Never
If I didn't wear it I would suffer the next day and I'm done with that.
I log over 220 hrs a month.

To the question of how much is compliance, it varies, but I believe the Medicare is the common one where you need "4 hrs/night for 70% of days in any 30 day period" -- so out of 30 continuous days in your 3 month check flight you need 21 of those days to be 4 hours or more.
Well my DME said I need to get in 80 hours within this month. Otherwise they will need to take the machine back. I can get a 30 extension if my sleep Doctor authorizes it. I am not sure if I need a total of 80 this month or 4 per day. I've only got in 15 or 20 hours so far.
OP....You have been screwing around with CPAPs on and off for 7 years. Grow up and wear it!
Maybe you should ask a few questions before you make such statements. My Mom gave me a CPAP machine 7 years ago. I only used it once or twice since then. These last few days have been my first true days using CPAP. Now you know.

Writes PST...I assume the problem is not forgetting altogether; it's thinking you'll put it on before you actually go to sleep

And, mea culpa a few times. I would have the same thought each time, I'm not yet sleepy enough for Mister Mask, and then ... waking up with that old, familiar (and icky) feeling. Ugh.

Now, I always mask right away, and it's amazing how that contraption will put me to sleep so quickly.

I have been using CPAP with 100% compliance for 7 years (except for once when I was on an airplane)

A year ago, I accidentally didn't take my CPAP machine when I was on my wedding anniversary on a weekend away. It was horrible - tossed and turned all night and couldn't sleep.

Which is really weird seeing as I have never 'felt' like CPAP was making me feel better or sleep better - just stopped the legend snoring which my wife appreciates..

How many hours does Medicare require for compliance? I don't actually know the required number, and I started Cpap last Monday, the 3rd. Since Friday the 7th I've had it on all night every night (6-8 hours each night), so I don't think I'm in danger of noncompliance. My appt to find out if I "qualify" is a little over a month away... but I guess I don't know the exact requirements. I did read the sheet, but I don't have a copy of it to refresh my memory. I don't yet have the knowledge to check my stats from the SD card, or the software that reads it... or how to interpret what the results say.
120 hours in a month. That comes out to 4 hours a day. If you think, and it doesn't sound like it, you're not going to make the hours, watch TV for a couple hours before you go to bed. My biggest problem is not having a regular sleep schedule. Since I'm retired, if I want to watch a movie that goes to 11-12pm, or later, I do. My body clock is used to getting up at 5:30 regardless of when I hit the sack.

No, I've never forgotten. I put the mask on, it tells my brain it's time to sleep, and I do. The only time I've slept without the machine was years ago when we lost power in the middle of the night due to a storm (before I bought a battery backup). I sat up for over four hours that night, unable to sleep without my machine.

But since you're worried about meeting compliance requirements, why not put it on the minute you get into bed, even if you're watching tv or reading or whatever? That'll add to your hours of use, and if you fall asleep, you're covered.

Yeah because I was TRYING to use it. I never made it past 15 mintues each time. Your posts are coming across as rude. Not appreciated.

It's really simple though:

If you want to use the mask, then use it.

If you want to keep it but can't sleep with it then just wear it while awake, and wear it enough to satisfy the compliance requirements.

If you aren't using it and aren't even trying then there really is no point in your keeping the machine.

Probably the best thing we can do for you is to encourage you to do whatever it takes to comply and then to make the treatment work for you.

It's not complicated.
