I am unclear as to exactly which model PR S1 Auto CPAP your dad has.
I got the impression that it was the 560 model....to confirm model number you can look on the bottom of the blower unit for a 3 digit number which most likely will have DS or REF in front of it.

If it is the 560 model then that is the 60 series machine which has the optional heated hose.
It does require a special power supply...a different lid to the humidifier along with the heated hose.
There is an upgrade kit available that includes all these items.
So no special or different humidifier module...but will need the upgrade items.

If it is the 550 model....there is no way to use the System One Heated hose humidifier and its heated hose with it. The 60 series humidifier is not compatible at all with a 50 series machine. Can't mix and match the 50 and 60 models.

Regarding the heated tube option - does his existing module support it? In other words - does the use of the heated tube require a totally different humidifier module compared to the standard unit that came with his machine?

thanks again.

His existing module supports it....IF you buy the kit I mentioned for $75, which is essentially just a replacement lid for the humidifier you already have, plus the heated hose:

Yet, he may not like the heated hose! Watch for that.

I got a heated hose....I cannot stand the intense flood of overly hot, moist air!
i abandoned that, so now I have the One, with electrified connector but standard (non-heatable) hose attached to that.
So, just a heads up to stay tuned.

Also:
I have the same machine.
One thing I DID do was change from 3 humidity (the default setting) to 4. that was better.
OTOH, my provider said that there is no way to gauge what will work on humidity - you have to try all choices until something works well. Perhaps that is true...I'm new here.
I was told that if I am uncomfortable, I cannot assume that the sensible change will work. (that is, I may think I need more humidity, but it may turn out that LESS will be better). lol.
So, in practice, my provider suggests:
You try one direction (up, in my case)...if that doesn't work, you try going lower (such as, to 2).
In my case, a bump to 4 did the trick. (and I stopped there). You may find differently!

+1 I do the samething but I am not caveman or redneck.. but it still works for me
