Comfort Lite 2 and rainout

Post by Ann D » Sat May 27, 2006 5:28 am

Any ideas as to why I get horrible rainout with the Comfort Lite 2 but have no rainout at all with the Swift?

I really like the Comfort Lite 2 - really is more comfortable and seals very well (with the cushions, haven't found a nasal mask yet that fits my nose). But I get horrible rainout even with a hose cover and the humidifier at the lowest setting. Yet I can use the Swift, humidifier at highest setting, no hose cover, and get no rainout.

Sadly, the Swift makes my teeth hurt.

I also have the same problem with the CL2 so I mostly use my swift. There are a few here that have used the heated hose to help with rainout with the CL2, I think one is DME_Guy if my foggy brain is correct. I hopefully will be able to get one in the not too distant future.

I have used my CL2 a few times with no rainout by cutting the end of a heavy sock and placing it over the nasal cushions. Being careful to cut out enough room for the nasal cushions to come through the fabric. I keep this in place by using a small rubber band around the fabric. The main idea is to keep the cooler room air from touching the nasal cushion and causing condensation. It worked for me.

Oh, I almost forgot I also wrap some light fabric around the short hose on the head gear to help keep condensation out of that.
