About a year ago we bought a really nice, expensive bed. This stomach sleeper loved it. Then came my apnea diagnosis and now I can only sleep on my sides and I hate it. My hips hurt and it ruins my night. I did two nights in the sleep lab on a Sleep Number bed, and man was that thing AWESOME. I really wish we had bought one of those. That's my next bed.

Because of work I stay in a lot of Hotels and your experience mirrors mine, Hilton is one of those that features Sleep # Beds but stocks 20% of their rooms with hybrid mattresses for those who don't like the Sleep # Beds.
The irony here is that we use air mattresses exclusively in our house. Years ago during an extended camping trip using your standard Wal-Mart issue Coleman Inflatable Air mattress, I discovered that the hip pain when side sleeping and small of the back pain when back sleeping, went away. So, and this is fact, I carry one of these camping mattresses with me when I do go on the road, strip the bed, put the mattress on top of the hotel offering, remake the bed and sleep like a baby.
