Not generally.

If you are using your CPAP during the daytime, something is wrong with your basic CPAP settings at night. Or you are not being compliant with CPAP at night.

I do use it for naps. I don't take a nap everyday like I did before cpap but I still sometimes take a little nap. I am 100% compliant so far. I have never slept without it since receiving it but I still feel pretty tired on some days. I've only been on it for a week so I am probably still adjusting.

Eric,

Not necessarily. Monday, if I had not had a generator, I would not have been able to use my ASV from 5.30a to 8a because of a power outage. Therefore a nap would certainly be in order, once power was restored.

I don't use it during the day because I don't nap. Napping for me is a sure way to sleep poorly at night.

I sleep in my recliner where I watch TV and use the computer.

If I feel drowsy, I often put on the mask while I'm watching TV or computing because I do nap a lot. I often end up sitting for hours with the mask on without ever napping.

It's probably a bad idea somehow, but I've noticed no side effects other than using more water.

Yes for rare naps, after early mornings on the water. Pre-cpap, I could nap often, and sleep through my snoring. Now if I fall asleep w/o cpap, just as I start really get into it......SNNNNNNOOOOOOOOORRRE!!!!!!!! Wakes me up everytime.

No, I never use my XPAP during the day. I never deliberately nap, though I admit that I have been known to doze off .

I gave up trying to nap in the day because I just can't fall alseep, but when I did try, I always used cpap. I am lucky to sleep 2-4 hrs at night with cpap for the last 4 months so I wish I could hose up and nap during the day!

People are going to yell at me for this answer, but… I do not use the CPAP when taking a daytime nap. The reason is that I am a power napper - as long as I fall asleep for a minute or two (and dream), if I get up, I am refreshed and OK for the rest of the day. And I believe (but do not know for sure) that what wakes me up after a couple of minutes is actually an apnea. So it is useful to let it happen, but just that once. <ducking for cover>
