(Lol.. I deleted my own post by accident.)
Glad your looking overseas.. we are getting rorted over here something shocking.
The ACCC needs to jump on CPAP manufacturers/resellers for the price fixing scam thats going on in Australia.
I saved a bundle by buying my PRS1 Auto from this forums host, CPAP.com.. One third of the price the local sharks here were trying to charge me.
Not anywhere near an exaggeration to say it's cheaper to fly to the US and pick one up.

The machine referred to above does have a 90-day warranty. That isn't very long, but you'd catch infant mortality, anyways.

I did look at
http://www.secondwindcpap.com as well as 1800cpap I save about US140 on the same machine but then the 2 year warranty and if people have here have brought machines from secondwindcpap and not 1800Cpap then that would be worth more than the $140
Money is short for me right now so I am just looking to try to get a half decent machine to get me started with until I can afford a new machine. This being totally new to me I am just a bit worried about spending money foolishly but if I can avoid renting that would be great.u
Oh just realised the machine from secondwindcpap is a new machine that does make it a lot more appealing
Just wanted to add another two-thumbs-up for secondwindcpap. I bought my S9 VPAP Auto, open box, zero hour machine from them and they were great and very helpful. Machine was in perfect condition and indeed had zero hours on it.

DS560 from STL Mark has been sold, to me. But maybe he can have more?

I wish I had the money to just go out and buy a machine but sadly that is not the case. I am shocked at the price difference it is looking like buying from the US I will save $1000-$1500 which is crazy. To get a CPAP from Oz I would have to take out a loan or rent a machine from US costs about the same as 5 months rental it is just crazy.
I am so glad this board is here I would not of even thought of looking to buy a CPAP in the US. It is great to have some support and guidance at a time when I am going through something I have no clue about
Thank you to everyone for the help I will be buying a machine pretty sure I will be getting one from secondwindcpap.com

It will be easier to get the DS560 fixed in Australia than a US ResMed model.
I bought a 560 from StlMark and I would recommend his machines.

Thank you Tim
I am tossing up between the 560 and the S9
A few people have recommended the 560 what sways me about the s9 is it's lighter/smaller and a bit quieter but have not 100% made my mind up yet

Hi - I got the PRS1 last year, but within a couple of wks it was acting peculiar (puffing intermittently on it's own, apparently a feature that's expected... can't explain the technical 'why's' now), but I was able to return it and get what I'm using now (see below) as the S9 was too expensive and I didn't feel the need of SO much technical info (still get all I need with the IP).

I am leaning towards the S9 but still 24 hours before my money clears I will be getting either a open box or gently used machine from secondwindcpap.com so the prices are pretty much the same no matter what machine I go for. So hopefully whatever I get will serve me well for a bit

I feel like I am taking 1 step forward 2 steps backwards
I had decided well I think I had maybe decide to get a 'Gently Used ResMed S9 AutoSet CPAP with Heated Humidifier & Accessories' from secondwindcpap.com realised I needed to send them a copy of my prescription so I have emailed them a copy of this and have to wait for them to get back to me.
Having a read about the s9 and found that the firmware can not be updated (at least I think that) from what I can make out to use a sdhd card the firmware needs to be at least 903 and the current firmware on a new machine is 905 or 906. I am gathering (rightly or wrongly) the firmware is basically responsible for how well a machine works so the newer the firmware the better the results you may get.
Should I email secondwindcpap.com and ask about the firmware of the machine I will receive and if so what do I need to make sure of? for example if the firmware is 903 or above will that be OK or should I try to push for a machine that has firmware 905+
another question if instead of the s9 I go with the DS560 will I avoid the firmware problem?

Firmware updates were mostly for minor little bug fixes and won't affect the quality of the therapy/treatment.
I forget exactly what the version changes do but it won't affect the pressure delivered or the accuracy of the reports.
The oldest machine will still work just like the newest in terms of its job.
Though if you feel better about the newer firmware for peace of mind you can ask for clarification.
