I use a Miss Moka Prestige by Forever. Picked it up at the hardware store in Bellano:
You cannot make excellent coffee if you're using electricity (you can make GOOD coffee, but I'm not interested in GOOD coffee).

Went from 4 pots a day to 1 mug in the morning. Irregular heart rhythms were the reason for the reduction. Bought a little four cup coffee maker from wally world for about twelve bucks. Keep some good coffee beans, and self grind every morning for that one mug. To me, it is not the cost of the coffee maker that makes a difference, but rather the roast, and freshness of the beans.

Yay... I always end up missing important threads like these.. not this one!
My kitchen is small and at the moment I have to resort to Pod machines, as both my auto-grinder and trusty Breville Cafe series died ages ago, and I haven't felt an overwhelming desire or need to replace them. Pods have been filling my caffeination needs quite well.
I too am searching for a solution involving slightly more biodegradable/compostable pods... being a programmer, you can probably guess how much I'm shamefully currently killing the environment.
I have a Map (CaffItaly) and an ALDI (Expressi) machine, I found the Map machine pods are quite simple to clean / reuse / refill. Which is probably an environment plus to a more patient person.
But I'm really enjoying my Expressi coffee at the moment, and it's made me quite lazy. Considering the ALDI machine was less than a 3rd of the price of the other one, I'm quite impressed, apart for the masses of plastic+coffee waste it spews out. The Chai Lattes and most of the Chocolates (except the nut ones!) they have are tastylicious, and also work in the Map machine (but not the coffee pods!)
Map pods work in the ALDI machines, but occasionally get stuck and can be an absolute pain to get out.
