Merci! jos
Sounds like you got your gear... good for you, Jos. Your last reply was exceedingly kind to your detractors. I'd be rippin' them a new one if I was in your shoes. Also, I am very proud of most of CPAPtalk members... it means a lot to me that so many good folks stepped forward when it was so simple just to turn away (not to mention heaping suspicion on Jos). It's a free country tho, and people are free to believe what they want to, so no rancor to anyone on the forum from my side.

BTW Jos, if you need to try some different nasal masks down the road, I have on almost new PR one and a ResMed one that's been used a month. Both are mediums, fully functional, clean and ready rock Just PM me in regards to specifics if your current masks fail to fill the bill.

From 2004 to about 2009 the county and state had no medical help for white men of Michigan.
What does you being a white man have to do with anything?

I think I'll just slip away from this thread now... spoke a little too soon I guess ('What' just made a good point), though I do understand the frustration. Sorry.

I don't know where things stand but people have PMed me offering to help get a machine if you haven't gotten one yet and i'd be more than willing to collect the money and send it off to mark or another source if that is the route you prefer for a machine - additionally if someone donates a machine, i'd still be willing to donate to set you up with backup masks or filters or whatever you need ( and i'll ask those who have offered donations if they are willing to have their money go for accessories). But think about it, I'm agreeable to help with whatever seems like it will benefit you the most. This forum is the only reason i got my sleep apnea under control.

I have a couple of standard size long hoses I can donate.
Might have a couple of masks if I knew what kind and what size.
If someone can get together enough money to maybe buy a used S9 machine from mcdover...I bet he has one.....
I have a almost new S9 humidifier I would donate. Used for a week only and if I didn't know it had been used I would swear it was brand new. I think I might have a S9 slimline hose...not sure about the Climateline though which would be nice in the cold weather but I will try to find one if a S9 materializes.

Dotyj, sorry to appear to be heartless, but I'm not really. The Federal Prison System and the inmates housed there tend to wear on your good side. I was always known as an officer who would give you what you had coming, but wouldn't bend the rules or show favoritism. The penitentiary that I worked in for 27 years is a maximum security facility with the worse of the worse. We had an old saying at the prison. "How do you tell if a inmate is lying to you?" the answer is "his lips are moving".

Over the years I find myself questioning peoples intentions, integrity and friendship. It got so bad I started looking at "inmates" as "them" and "staff" as "us". If one of "them" got stabbed, that was to bad, least it wasn't one of "us". I've been spat on, had feces thrown on me, hit with pool balls, my family threatened, and I have been assaulted many times over the years. Kinda makes you lose hope in humanity, after a while you shun outsiders and fall into a tight group of "us against them".

Inmate families see you when they come visit in their loved ones in the institution and are kind enough to point you out as "the mean ol'man that wont let daddy come home" to their children when they pass you in the food store, or mall. The movies make "guards" look like dumbass's with sticks always beating the poor convicts over nothing. We didn't put them there, they did that to themselves, and we are there to protect each and everyone from the "bigdogs" of the block who prey on weaker men who are unfamiliar with the pecking order in the block. We have programs, and classes to help get their lives in order and even have college classes to where they can come out with a college degree.

I'm sorry if I put you into one of those boxes. If you truly are living in conditions like you stated, you are braver than many. God bless you and yours, I hope you find a way out of your current situation quickly.

Oh, and if your lying to me, I'm coming after you.

I guess we are all products of our environment and our personal experiences, It is what it is..

My prayer is for Dotyj will get the help he needs and can get back on his feet. I am sure his depression is probably compounded by his Sleep Disorder.
When it rains it pours.. This is indeed very sad and a shame that in the richest country in the world we have people struggling like this.

Whats next??

Most people are generous. I firmly believe that moochers are stealing from the poor. I don't know anyone that would be able to sit down to dinner knowing that someone was hungry.

Please don't be so critical. The web is full of people who go from site to site trying to scam people. And I found it odd that a homeless person that sleeps in the snow and has no shoes for the winter. Seems to want a new $800 machine and no word about a mask he would like. but he has a generator?? Unfortunately these days you have to watch out....Dr Phill had a whole show on this same subject.

I definitely agree that skepticism is warranted and I feel that VikingGnome raised some excellent points. And you have some also.

What I was deploring was the stereotypes of the homeless in general. Bobshouse to his credit, clarified where he was coming from as someone who was a corrections officer and saw a whole different world.

Personally, I know I tend to be too trusting so to compensate, I will then become quite skeptical which can also be bad.

You can all blabber whatever you care to, but still at this point not one of you know whether dotyj is legitimate.

There is a lot suspicious in what he posted and that thing about getting used to walking barefoot in the Michigan snow is just not possible. You would need an amputation quickly.

I am sure there are people living outdoors in Michigan and just the odds say some of them need CPAP. Is dotyj one of them? We don't know.

You are right ...we don't know dotyj and we don't know you. I tend to believe dotyj and ignore your anonymous remarks. If you want to become a serious poster, register....(or do you just like controversy ?).
