On the PR S1 760 machine (BIPap Auto).....Setting of 4 cm EPAP with PS minimum and maximum set to 0 with IPAP max of 20 will work like apap mode with minimum 4 and maximum of 20 .
If you use EPAP of 4...that probably will not be enough starting pressure to do a good job of holding the airway open.
So if your AHI is still quite high and predominately obstructive apneas or hyponeas then you will likely need a higher EPAP starting point.
If your AHI is predominately Clear Airway...we get to have a different discussion but chances are it won't be an issue.

My plan didn't work. I changed MinPS and MaxPS to zero, and slept for a couple hours off and on, and my AHI was 33. I changed everything back and my AHI this morning was 15. I'm still exhausted, but I'm going to leave the machine alone and let the respiratory therapist deal with it on Monday.

I've made an appt with the pulmonologist who read my sleep study; I'll see him in six weeks.

Is it possible to have sleep apnea that can't be treated with cpap/bipap/apap/etc?
