it varies with your insurance. call your insurance company to find out if the mask is paid at 100% (not likely if you have a copay on the machine). Also take a look at this medicare replacement schedule of supplies. Many insurance companies follow the same schedule. Don't let all this overwhelm you. It will all fall into place, believe me And if you don't have the cash right now for your mask expense and everything else, I would think you could just tell them you dont have the cash and the DME will bill you..YMMV of course..

I was given a mask already at the hospital. So I honestly don't need one right now. Anything I get will be 20% for me.

Well I visited Apria today. I got to see my prescription. My pulmonologist requested a Respironics 560P/with heated humidifier. The technician was great and said if I wanted to go for the heated hose options we could make some calls and see what we could do. United Healthcare will not pay for what is not on the prescription. Strange thing was total bill was $806. May copay was $161. This included filters a Wisp mask(yeah I got extra technician recommended I Have a backup). I have all of the manuals that come with the machine. I look forward to sleeping tonight. I want to thank all of you who chimed in on my thread and gave me guidance. I can honestly say that Apria in Machesney Park was a pleasant experience, everyone was nice and my technician(Troy) is a CPAP user himself so that could be why my experience was so nice. I have 30 days to exchange the Wisp mask. He even help me setup and put in the correct nose cover for my size nose.

Hi M, glad it went well. Did you get all 3 size nose pieces? There is an extra small/petite, small/med, and large for the Wisp. If I were you I would make sure I had all three, even if you don't think you will need them.
I hope you are able to adjust well to CPAP. It definitely takes come getting used to, but the rewards are there, too. Regards, Oak

Yes it has all the pieces in the package. Funny he thought it was a rental and looked at paperwork. Insurance is buying it outright? He said insurance usually wants to rent it. He also mentioned that my doctor wants the SD card read at his office. He says Dr. Zeater is very hands on and will be all in my data making changes as needed.
