The trees and the dragonfly are running a pretty close race for my favs. I'd proudly hang either in my home. Water colors intimidate me so I really appreciate those who can work with them.

Here's an example of what I mean that the saints among us help shape the world into a better place for all of us:

I knew a beautiful young girl who worked in the school cafeteria for free lunches. Her Mother told her to stop because she had plenty of money to pay for school lunches. The girl explained that the ladies in the lunchroom worked very hard and needed her help and she wasn't doing it for the lunches but just to help the nice ladies. One day after school while she was waiting after school to get on the bus to ride home an old mans car stalled in the street in front of the school. She ran out to help the old man push his car out of the street. One boy helped her while the other kids teased them for helping the old man. That night the girl was hit by a hit and run driver and she died the next day. The kids at the school apologized to the Mother for the way they had acted that day. The girl wasn't bothered by the incident she had just taken it is stride. I know because I am her Mother. Every day she rounded up all the kids in the neighborhood and brought them home with her to play school. The kids had fun and all got their homework done before they ever made it home from school.
Several years after she died I ran into a friend of hers that had moved away and hadn't heard about her death. Both girls had tried out for cheerleader and she was accepted but my Brenda was the next runner up if someone moved or didn't keep her grades up she would be on the team. Well the friend was going to lose her position because of her grades. Brenda tutored her so she could stay on the team. I learned so many acts of kindness she had done for others even for the janitor at the school.
I hope my story made sense I don't talk about her much because it is still very painful after all these years. She didn't get to stay with us too many years. She was only 14. She died the Sunday before Labor day in 1981.

Oh, Stormy, your post brought me to tears. (((HUGS))) I understand loss, but to lose a child...well I have no words. Hope you had lots of support when it happened.

Stormy, you know as the years pass it doesn't get easier -- in fact it can sometimes be harder because people stop asking about the child you've lost, as if that child is forgotten. I hope it comforts you just a little to know that now a whole community of caring people knows about your little saint-angel-child. Thank you for telling us about her.

Sometimes love is all the strength we have.
Thank goodness your friends loved you enough to fight for you, even when you fought them.

Thank you for sharing this with us. I knew you'd lost a daughter but all you've shared makes almost feel like I knew her. I cannot imagine what you've been and continue to go through. ((((HUGS)))) Would you mind if I shared this?

Stormy, here's my introduction to your story as I shared it on my Facebook...
One Mother's Story
September 19, 2013 at 5:38pm
Read a story today that gripped my heart. It was on a forum I frequent for people with sleep disorders. Over the years of "talking" on the message board we get glimpses into the lives of those we usually know only by monikers and cartoon avatars. Today one of the regulars on that site shared her story of her daughter who lived a short but commendable life. It touched me deeply. It reminded me that everyone has a story, a burden they bear, and kindness should not be reserved just for those whose stories we know, but to everyone our lives intersect with. I want to share that story with you, as a tribute to a mother's daughter, that her legacy of goodness be spread just a bit farther on this day. I'm calling this A Beautiful Girl Named Brenda. In her mother's words...

Stormynights, thank you for sharing such a wonderful and at the same time hurtful story. Your daughter exemplifies the best of us. She brought others together. She helped others excel and did not expect anything out of it herself. On a day when all we seem to hear is awful news about our leaders and others around us, it's great to hear how a child "gets it" and wants to help make the world a better place ... and LIVES it every day of her life. That's what we should do. Take the time to step out and imagine being in that other person's shoes and actually try to make their life better.
Thank you!!

Time to get ready for my watercolor class tomorrow morning. Make certain ... Plus, as you can see, I tinkered around with my sketchbook. ... I can see the progress I am making. That's reassuring.
